Ryan @ GPI holds the SBE record. His car makes around 830hp NA and spins over 8500rpm. He said it had around 85K miles when he pulled it from the donor car. Just do the support mods: ls2 tensioner, timing chain, lifters, springs, retainers, oil pump wouldn't hurt, etc and I personally think you'll be ok.

FWIW I have just over 70k and I'm getting ready to install the BTR stage III cam with full compliment of parts (lifters, trunions, springs, oil pump, etc).

Yes sir, I agree 100%. Letter rip, send it!!! Just make DOUBLE sure you swap out ALL the supporting pieces with QUALITY items, do not chince out on anything. In these situations, you get what you pay for, and quality is what you want for longevity and reliablity!! And the many many smiles per mile!!

I was a former member of the Southern Nevada Camaro Club and they have a local LS guru they all go to for mods. When I called that guy, he declined to do the cam upgrade I was asking for because of the mileage on my car. And he's not the first to turn down my work.

Am I getting bad info here?
YES

Well, I might of cammed my car a little too late. I looked at my receipts today and the the mileage I was at when I did it. I was at 157k, and I know have 168k. So recently my engine started a lifter tick, so I took everything apart and inspected everything and checked all the lifter preloads. Everything came out fine so then I replaced the lifters (caddy lifters) put it all back together and still have the tick. So, talking to a machinist he told me that my cam bearings are probably on their way out causing the lifters to not hold a pump. So, I've decided to rebuild but that being said I don't think that 100k miles is to many to cam it. I would do it if it where me just don't wait too long.
