The point is you have no concrete proof to these claims, just speculation.
That's true it is speculation, but then again it was speculation that just because the Mustang handled better than the Camaro that it would automatically win a road course.

So the seats on the SS1, are they the same as on the SS2? Just not leather? I can deal with that I think. They still look awesome and have the huge head-rests and are FIRM racing seats?

The reason I'm rushing guys, is I want the 2009 tax credit. Sales tax on a car is 8.25% in NY. I want to avoid that!
If the only reason you're buying it right now is to save yourself 8%, then don't. First of all, the winter is about to start in the Northeast, so you won't even drive your car until april. Second of all, if you wait until april or may, there will be incentives out for the camaro, including 0% financing, and you will save yourself somewhere from 20 to 30% over 5 years instead, if you decide to go the 60 month financing route...

Not to mention my post above proves you don't get back all the taxes.

udate- 15% isn't a hard fast rule

It pretty much goes off your tax bracket.

Example is you make 120K you will get back about 23% of those car taxes you paid.

example if you paid 2000 in taxes you will get back $460 bucks back.

But if you make 80K and pay 2k in taxes (lower bracket) you end up getting about 15% of 2k back. which is 300 bucks.

Hope this clears things up for the OP.

Don't think you will be getting back all your taxes you pay on the car, that is simply not the case.

Huh???

Incentives for the Camaro? Why would they be doing that?

Please elaborate, this may change everything. It goes without saying I want an SS2 over a GT

Chevrolet comes out with incentives for all of their cars, even the corvette. Come april and may, camaro mania will have settled down, and dealers won't be "marking up" prices. Rather, they'll be marking down, and chevrolet will be offering special financing, which by my guess will be 0% for 60 months.

whitecane: ?? Some of your comments are strange?

Not being rude, but I don't get some of your posts?

1. age
2. have you ever bought a NEW car.
3. Have you ever driven a RWD V8?

Some of your questions seem so... what's the word?.... mmm.... Youthful..

I guess I kind of assume people shopping for a 2010 Camaro SS (36-38K) would have probably bought a new car before. And driven a car like this.

First, Thanks for clearing up my understanding of the tax deduction. This thread has been a GREAT help to me!

So far This thread has cleared up a few things for me. I will stop comparing the 2LT to the GT. As everyone agreed it is not a fair comparison.

I'm happy to answer your questions as you've all been so helpful in answering mine!

I'm 24.
Never bought a new car, or any car from a dealership for that matter
I have driven a RWD V-8 once in my life and I loved every moment of it. Now i know the rules, no driving in snow and don't be a dick in the rain. I have been following the Camaro since its inception in 2006.

GMAC offer 0% ??? Are you serious??? Wow. Does anyone else think this likely?

I thought GM would ride "camaro-mania" out for at least another year.

Btw, I'm in a position to pay it off in 36 months. I can make a huge down-payment. But if you're telling me that I'll pay less by waiting then that would seem good advice! If they are indeed going to offer incentives. (supplier pricing is a joke).

I don't wanna pay more than necessary, I'm sure everyone can respect that. So please, im here top absorb your advice. Feel free to go on.

Just got rid of my 06 GT and now have a 2010 SS. Got the Camaro because it has huge power, brembo brakes and it looks amazing. The mustang drives awesome, seriously. but no one cares when they see one, it has decent power, and the brakes will fade every time you have to slow down after having fun with the power. So get the Camaro SS. And whoever said the mustang is a better track car must not have driven one.

So, what do y'all think? Cash incentives for SS2 anytime this year? Or is waiting to buy one pointless?

I find it funny that people say, "Yeah mustangs are everywhere" like that's a bad thing. Mustangs are everywhere because they last. You see fox body's sn95's s197's everywhere because is like a cockroach....you simply cannot kill the car. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Hell if Camaro's would have not disappeared for 8 years, maybe you would see more of them as well. Its quite delusional to base buying a car based on how many of the cars you see on the road. You will start to see a lot more Camaro's soon, heck they have only been back for a year ! And all of this sorority talk is dumb as well. Girls drives stangs ? Well yeah they do. And I know 3 that will whip most people at the track with their stangs as well !

Buy a car base on what YOU want. not the current its cool to have or because "Of how many on the road there are" If you want to buy a car base on that, then get save your cash and buy a car that you do not see to often. Then you can be one of the only few with that car on the road.
