Low tire pressure light on.
Anyone run into this situation on their Z.
Took it out for a drive this morning and TPMS warning light came on. Front looks good, rear driver looks good, rear passenger got a blank reading. I checked the tire pressure and it’s good. I clear the reading and it rings wanting me the tire is low. I also cleared and reset the tire learning mode. Still pressure is at blank with ringing warning. I think the TPMS sensor is out on the rear passenger side. Any inputs where and how to go about this. If I take it to dealer they will say it’s a special car so it’s got a special high price. I’ve dealt with this special car, high price stuff before, like all fluid changes. It cost nothing but they keep saying it’s a special car. I know Z is a special car but don’t need special price. You know what I mean. Inputs. Thanks.

BUT, the problem is to fix it the wheel must come off. Which requires that person not to damage your rotor upon R&R(removal/reinstallation). Then the person to remove the tire to instal new tpms must not scratch your wheel. So the tpms is not special but it takes special care not to F up your rotor and wheel. Long shot but try deflating then inflating tire to see if it’ll get it working but even if it works it’s on its last leg. |

Definitely looks like the TPMS battery died. Not sure what the lifespan is but after 7 years this is what we're going to be running into. I had mine replaced on my 2LS when I got new skins last month. If one is bad you can probably expect the others to be ready to check out. When it comes to tire stuff I put the car up on jacks, remove the wheels and bring them to Discount. Yeah, they can still booger up the rims but at least the extremely expensive rotors are safe.

I've got the same exact problem on the same exact sensor, I left it on the back burner for weeks, just ordered a sensor from the dealer. Was going to install it next time I bring the Z to work for an State Inspection

Thanks dude! Went to AC delco and they had like 6 different kinds for Z/28. Sheesh, sure wish they just stuck with one kind on all Camaros. At least they should separate boys to men (v6 to v8).

FWIW: TPMS batteries are good for ~6+/-1 year. Each have 2 gyrometer inside them to sense L/R side/direction and to put the unit to "sleep" to save the battery or the opposite and "wake it" when you start rolling.
If you can help it, purchase the "freshies". Get as new a date code as you can. |
