Attn: Cam Spec Wizards
Theoretical question here. What would a max effort/minimal chop camshaft for a >400" motor w/ a 2650 blower look like?
What would the best cam specs to get a bunch of air into this big engine and blower combo and maximize performance, without the obvious and extreme chop of a max effort cam? I've been driving the car with a moderately choppy cam for 5 years now. It's cool and gets lots of attention, especially through the custom fabbed 3" free flowing exhaust, but the idea of having a >1000whp car with a stock-ish sounding cam seems more appealing to me now. Car is an M6, by the way. Thanks!

I think because you want >1000rwhp the answer looks more like a turbocharger than a camshaft if not much chop is part of the requirement.

I wouldn't say minimal chop is a "requirement" per se, but it's an idea I'm kicking around and I know there's a ton of knowledge here on this forum...

I just want to know how in the hell you made 825 rwhp on the mods in your signature!

One day if I can figure out how, I'll post track and dyno vids.

That same combination on most dynojets would be in the 700 wheel range on E85. A smart tuner isnt making a 125hp difference. |

Yeah...I'd like that dyno read as well. I'm heavily cammed, headers, corn, ported, etc. and still don't make 825rwhp in cold weather. I'm close, and probably need 15's instead of 17's.

I wish everybody would stop getting their panties in a twist about this, but here's a video.

It runs great, thanks. Stock throttle body as well. It did have headers for the 749hp pull. Pulley setup was 8.6/2.5. Upgraded pulleys to 9.5/2.4 (roughly 4# more boost) and added ice tank, 1" lines to and from the blower, and 3" free flowing exhaust w/ no mufflers for the most recent 825hp dyno pull.

Just out of curiosity, how long (miles and years) have you been running it like this? I ask because with that combo, you're spinning at 26K. My tuner wouldn't do that.

Ran the previous pulley combo for about 3 years and 35k miles. The car was a daily driver the first 1.5 years I owned it.

And which tires and wheels please? They look like 17's.
