Shaft appears well made, I have not opened up the hardware bag,the shaft has three weights all on the same side one on the rear two slightly offset on the front. I really hope it's smooth.

Looks familiar! Do you have offset diff bushings on your car? Or planning on adding those at any point?

I have them on my parts shelf I was going to add them when I did the gears and true Trac but didn't get them in time. I may or may not install them. Not that it matters but I see yours is opposite, You have more weight to the rear and mine are ll thin it appears you have one thicker one. I am glad you said yours is smooth so I am hoping, Not going to lie I was bit nervous ordering right after the hurricane didn't want a rush build because they had so much other stuff going on. So far I am glad that you made me aware of this company, When you search DSS is really the only thing that pops up and is the company most people talk about.

Yes it can go either way. I put the slip joint towards the trans as it would be right on top of the exhaust if it was towards the diff.

I figured I'd put it towards the trans for heat reasons as well.

Hey Joe, just an FYI on the offset diff bushings, back when I lowered my Camaro 10 years ago, 1.25 drop, I did not install offset diff bushings, didn't know about them. My rear suspension is all stock except for the solid billet cradle mounts. And to this day, thank the Lord I have had zero issues with anything back there, at all. Even zero wheel hop after the solid cradle mounts. I know yea some folks say you need the offsets, but like I said, never knwe about them and all has been fine.. Granted I don't track my Camaro, but I DO drive her hard on the street during my "therapy sessions"!! lol.

Yeah I am in no hurry to install them, I did order them just so I have them on the shelf if I decide to at some point. I only lowered mine an 1 Inch but I figured I would stiffen the bushings up but then I heard about how much NVH they can transmit.

Did you get the Delrin bushings? I just got a set of poly offsets but didn't look real well to see if they would fit with my 9" beforehand - they won't.

Mine are Black and I believe they are Delrin, I didn't know Hendrix was still offering a poly offset version. I would rather poly if I was to install.

I will post my experience with AL vs CF. I am running a DSS AL shaft currently with a CF on the way. I agree with just about everyone who said stick with AL because it is plenty strong. AL should do for 80% of all cars IMHO. I am forced to buy a new shaft due to a heat shield interferance. This summer my gas tank expanded enough to make the heat shield touch the driveshaft. It has a grove cut in it that I can hang my nail on and I dont trust it at speed. I like the idea of having the shield in place for a little protection. I have fixed the evap/tank swell issue since. With a 3.5" or bigger shaft you will be better off removing the shield. The DSS CF is a little smaller, little stronger, and terminal speed is about 3,000 rpm higher. I want to run the mile one day so its something to factor in the mix.
