Valve stem cleaning.

I have a 2011 RS Camaro and i have been debating if i should either drip the valve stems or walnut shell clean them.
Has anybody done both? Is there and risk to my engine?

The correct way to decarbon your valves is outlined in GM service bulletin 16-NA-383. It works beautifully! The old school way from back in the early 90's was the walnut shell method but it requires a lot more work in dis assembly.

Yep, at first I thought it was someone more OCD than me.

I do the spray cleaning before every oil change. I currently use CRC valve cleaner and I think it works better than Seafoam.

Suddenly got the urge to go clean my tire valve stems now.

1st post for you. 👍 How many miles? Are you having issues? Hard starting? I use CRC GDI cleaner on a 3.6 LFX Equinox. The LFX replaced the LLT in the 2012 Camaro, very similiar engines. The LFX was an improved LLT, sort of. I clean the throttle body. Then use a vacuum port to spray into the intake while running. Just seal off around the port to keep the vehicle running more easily. You can also insert the spray tube at the throttle body boot. If you do not know where I'm talking about, stay downstream from the MAF or sensors. Do it a 100-200 miles before the oil change and follow the directions on the can. I do it about every ~7000 miles. I'm pulling the intake off in the spring. Will determine how effective CRC has been.

I was thinking the same. Thought there might be something special that came up to clean my tire valve stems.

For those doing this, what machine did you choose to handle the job? Happy with it?
Wondering if it will work on my Cadi CTS VSport or my wife's Grand Cherokee once it has enough miles on it.

No machine, the CRC comes in a spray can.
And if those engines are DI it should work well, just follow the directions.
