i think that it was driver skill, or the lack of that caused the Camaro to crash

My last patrol car was a V8 Hemi/AWD Charger. They handle very well with good pursuit rated tires. It was easily the best police car I ever had.

The older Chargers sucked for brake fade, the brakes got real hot real quick and stayed that way. The newer ones direct a lot more air to the brakes, but you still have to be cognizant of how much brake you have left. Brake fade suuuuucks.

Interesting I thought the AWD chargers and challengers were just the V6 models. Is that a PPV only type deal or am I totally messed up on this? I bet an AWD hemi would is a fun ride.

AWD With the Hemi was only available in the Charger pursuit up until this year ,now they only offer the V6 with AWD. We have been running the Charger since 07 Hemi 2 wheel drive and the AWD Hemi since 15. We usually get about 180 to 200 K out of them before we retire them.

Damn I had no idea. Imagine the possibilities for a hell of a sleeper street car that could be in cop attire none the less If it would hold up to the hell kitten supercharger, man that would be fun ride.

They were police vehicles only. The issue was the transmission, they couldn't use the current 8 speed in them because it was too big to fit with the hemi and AWD gearbox. That's why normal commercial versions were only available with the V8 OR with AWD, but not both.

It was fun, but the traction control was a bit overly aggressive. You had to let off the pedal shifting to 2nd or you'd bog down a bit as it cut power, and to a lesser extend the shift to 3rd. After that you could keep your foot in it as needed.

They have been decent cars for us , I took AWD and 2WD versions around Watkins Glen and Monticello Motor club, Heavy cars. We have had good luck with them but we typically replace the cam/lifters once or twice in their life. And we do have issues with front frame rails rusting by the cats.
