Painting Engine Components Question
Hi guys,
With my motor tore apart for a complete rebuild and it going to take awhile to get done, I am wanting do some painting of parts that I have wanted to do for awhile. Now is as great a time as any. My 2014 is painted Red Hot and I would like to do some pieces in the same color, such as the strut brace, valve covers, etc. How will automotive paint hold up on items such as Valve Covers, plenum cover that will be closest to the motor and exhaust, etc? If it holds up fine, do I need to do anything special to help protect it? I'm a newb on painting, so any experience and knowledge you have with our cars that you don't mind sharing, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Mike |

Hey Mike, surprised nobody posted yet. My strut brace and the intake "clamshell" that is under that big ugly engine cover were custom painted RJT then cleared by my body shop, no issues. My valve covers are powder coated as is my new intake manifold. You can have the valve covers painted as well and cleared and shouldn't have any issues as long as they use quality paints and clear coat. I also have several other "underhood" items that were painted with the exterior body color.
