2015 Camaro SS Convertible Rear 10" Whoofer Swap (8 Speaker Boston Spk System)

Hey y'all, just sharing that I was able to re-use the OEM metal bracket to mount my new Skar Audio IX-10 D2 10" 400 Watt Max Power Dual 2 Ohm Car Subwoofer. The placement is behind rear seat, which BTW was a pain getting off until I realized that you simply push down on the tabs in the cutout holes right behind the top of the seat while pulling "out" on the seat at the same time. 2 tabs centered behind each seat. Use a short flat head.

The 8 TORX screws for the sub didn't line up perfectly so I tossed them, and bought Qty 8 (#8 3/4" sheetmetal screws) that did the job perfectly.

I also reused the wiring connector which made re-install a breeze.

Sound level is 2x better, but I'm buying a 12" powered bass pipe and using the ******** Exclusive 2010-2015 Camaro Plug & Play RCA Output T-Harness item: 5G-X3 RCA to get the extra bass I want.

PS the SS convertible has 8 stock speakers (Boston). (1) 3 1/2" Center Dash Two Way, (2) 1" Door Tweet, (2) 6.5" Door Mid Subs, (2) 3 1/2" Rear Panel Two Way, and (1) 10" Whoofer Behind Rear Seat. (NO 6x9's on convertible)

Is that a free air sub? If not it won’t sound nearly as good as one designed for free air. There are a lot of holes in the metal rear seat back that would have to be completely sealed for a regular sub to sound good. Sure that will work but not to its full potential.
