Changing tires
I'm getting 2lt/rs w 20 inch tires. Anybody considering swapping out summer tires for all seasons and not bothering with true snow tires. I don't plan on driving in snow but will drive it at other times in winter. I just hate to keep switching tires out each year.

I am going to "deal" with the summer tires for this winter and leave them on. I figure by next fall the summer skins will be shot and I'll replace with all season radials. I can't justify spending another $1,200 to $1,500 on winter tires and wheels. I have a 4WD pick-up I'll drive when the roads are icy or snowy.

I'm seriously thinking about getting a set of 20" pirelli scorpion ice and snow tires, and then having the P Zero's put back on next April or so.
It appears this is cheaper than getting a set of winter tires, and rims. By the way, the owners manual strongly recommends getting a set of winter tires. |

correct...no personal experience, but from what I've heard...the tires performance will be severally degraded the colder the temps get...IMO, not worth taking a chance to save a few $$, if you plan on doing a lot of driving in the winter.

Yeah when it gets cool these tires spin like nuts. I know my car likes cool air but I side step the car with half throttle off the line if it is 50F or lower out side. She will not just spin she spins alot and the rear end starts sliding out. Then traction control kicks in.

I sold mine and picked up 4 Yokohama's Parada Spec-X all weather tires for about $140-$150 each.
I was glad to get rid of the P Zeros and now have the piece of mind that if one of mine blow's out that it will just cost about $150 to replace instead of $500....

Good point. Also been thinking of buying a second set of "front" rims so all four tires match. Front tires are a bit cheaper than the rears as well: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34299 |

I plan on getting the Yokohama Parada Spec-X's as well when I get my car. Im expecting delivery early Feb and will probably still have some winter conditions around here. Anyone have any experience with these tires? I want to know if they actually work well in cold/snowy conditions. Bottom line the Perilli's are coming off no matter what. Also look out for new sizes of popular A/S ultra performance tires coming out from other top brands. Ive spoken to some reps from Continental, Good Year, and Michelin and they all said no later than the early 1st quarter 2010 they will have their sizes to match the Camaro.

There is no way my car is leaving the dealership with the pirellis. I think I will get the yokohamas and be done with it. I've got an AWD for the snow anyway but I'll be afraid to ride the pirellis when my car comes in in 6-8 weeks. would hate to bang her up driving out the dealership
