Z/28 Headers
I have a set of Speed Engineering headers, with off-road mid-pipes and O2 extensions, I removed from my 2015 Z/28 after 1,118 miles.

Or do you have the stock oil cooler deleted? |

The headers had to be dented to get around the oil cooler which I was Ok with. I removed them because the headers and no cats exceeded the decibel limit of several race tracks. My understanding is that no one makes headers that avoid having to do this, even expensive American Racing - is this wrong? Has someone actually installed headers without modification?

Oh I see. Yes, as far as I know, ARH and Kooks make headers specifically for Z/28 that are supposed to go around it. I think the only thing that needs to happen is the dimple for the steering shaft still. Especially with 2" I think. I talked to a guy from Stainless Works at LSFest last year and he said thats the main reason for not fitting. If you delete it, any SS headers fit just fine.

I just ordered a set of ARH 2x3 Headers w/o cats and the x-pipe on the 30th and they were on my doorstep on Thursday the 2nd. Went straight through to ARH and ordered them. Didn’t charged me shipping either. They are in the process of getting ready to relocate so they are rushing out orders.

Are you going to do any further mods? It's my understanding that headers alone offer minimal gains on our LS7s as they already have a unique set of exhaust manifolds. Now if you do heads, cam, headers and exhaust it definitely moves the performance up to the next level.

Thanks for the info about Z/28 specific offerings. I found them on the ARH website - they’re $1800 so I wouldn’t have gone that route anyway, but thanks for the heads up.
