The dealership with the silver 1LE should be receiving it in today. I’m going to ask a lot of questions and ask for their inspection report of it. If it passes, I may just pay over the phone for it. The last one I was trying to get sold within a few days, and I only have Saturday of this weekend free to take care of this. Should I try to make a deal for a lower price than what they’re asking. $26.5K seems pretty damn good for a low-mileage 1LE, and is priced lower than the the 1SS and 2SS I most recently checked out and drove.
It almost sounds to me if you buy anything other than the silver 1LE you wont be 100% satisfied. Sometimes what haunts us are the things you don't buy. It never hurts to haggle but if you sleep on it there is a good chance that it will be gone before you know it. Ask them if you can take it to your own mechanic. Sometimes they will let you, sometimes they wont. Definitely make sure it doesn't have a re-branded or salvage title. Pull up the trunk mat & take a pic of the rpo sticker. I'm not sure what the 1LE is but I'm sure someone here knows.

Good luck & nice 74!

The SS is a fantastic car overall and in this forum you'll find many, many examples of both appearance and performance mods done with factory and aftermarket components so no need to try and duplicate all of the 1LE pieces as it could get rather pricey.
Searching the 1LE section of this forum I found a couple more interesting items. 1LE cars have a white steering shaft. I don't know why but it's a quick way to ID the car. Also, some of the cars had an annoying "pop" or "bang" with the front struts under certain conditions. Some folks just got used to it, other guys upgraded to aftermarket units. Pic is of the steering shaft courtesy of a fellow member.

I have a 2012 manual Sim convertible 2ss with black rally stripes. 7800 miles. Car is literally like brand new. Always garaged never driven in the rain. No mods. If interested pm me.
$29,000 firm.

P.s. comes with tonneau cover and an interior cover.

Exactly my thoughts. Basically has everything I want, so I don’t mind paying the full-price. I’m getting a lot of money for my 300, anyway, so I only have to spend a couple thousand more for it. I’ve had too many cars I wish I had bought and regretted, to this day, not buying. Also, if it’s the 1LE, I wouldn’t feel the need to upgrade anything, minus tires, which is huge.

gm part# 23123397 suspension kit (discontinued but still out there) would be a small step towards the 1LE transformation.

If you added up all $$$$ for the parts specific to the 1LE to add to just a basic ss (if you can find everything), you'll quickly find it's far better for a few reasons to just find a legit 1LE.

Also, the 2 SS’s that I drove had the clutch engagement right at the top of the pedal. It took me until the 2nd car to get used to it, but is this a normal thing?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I’ve definitely made my mind up and am trying to get the silver 1LE. I hate trying to buy a car that isn’t close to you, though… dealer says the car should be ready from refurbishment this Friday.
