I think that's just how the belt looks.. I did reuse the belt from when the tension snapped. Prior to using it tho, I did make sure there wasnt any tears or gouges.

Got the new belt in, and did some mild pulls. No issues, however I was kind of babying it. At idle, it does seem like there's a lot of slack/ wiggle on the long stretch of the belt. I could possibly go tighter, but the tensioner could implode on me again.

Is your tensioner bolt in this position? I noticed in your previous picture the bolt was all the way to the left of the slot. If it is still in the left position then your belt is probably too long. I tried pulling up the belt sizing chart on ECS website but the link is dead.

ideally the tensioner should be in the middle of its operating range.

That's where the shop set it at. Now when I reinstalled the belt, it's close to the 1030/11 o'clock position of the bracket. You're suggesting putting the bolt closer to 1-2 o'clock position? The tensioner range is still in the middle range regardless of where the bolt is though.

The green belt is 1845mm, but I'm considering going to the RPM belt to reduce/eliminate stretch. Maybe get 1831mm or 1811mm?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the clocking reference, but I would put the tensioner bracket bolt in the far right side of the slot. (turn the tensioner and bracket counter clockwise) So it cant slide.

Then use the shortest belt possible that puts the tensioner in the middle of the operating range. so about 50% preload. Also make sure your belt is not close to rubbing anything as it will flex some.

Nvm. It made sense in my head. Pretty much rotate the tensioner bracket plate all the way to the left (counter clockwise, then adjust the tensioner accordingly.

Another day another tensioner. Adjusted the bracket to El's suggestion. Bought a laser tool and everything was aligned correctly. Took the car out and the belt shredded again, and the tensioner snapped again.

Here is a pic of mine, all the way to the counter clockwise position on the bracket. I'm running the stock pullies with the ati balancer and the belt that came with the kit for that set up.

Thanks. I was actually about to PM you and ask yours looked. Is this the part number of your belt? K080720

I'm gunna give it 1 more go with another new tensioner and gates RMP belt. Stronger, and 14mm shorter (K080716RPM). If that doesn't work, I'm going twins

I had the green belt when I originally ordered the kit from ecs but after shredding it and getting the same belt (exact part number) from Napa it is now black. Attached is a picture of the location of mine in case it helps.

Thanks. That's the same position I had b4. I think it's the green belt in general. How long have you guys had it for? 2 belts lasted 300 miles.

Any chance you can get it on a dyno so you can observe what is happening with the belt? When I was using a green belt, I could watch it stretch under load. Once I switched to the RPM belt that went away.
