Yep, nice fat torque curve with stall and 3.73s should be fun. Picking it up Wednesday morning and driving back 7-8 hours to Houston. Should be fun if the weather is good. Will report back with video of idle and maybe a pull or two later in week or weekend.

Those are great numbers! Congrats! I just dropped my car off at GPI last Friday. I'm getting their SS1 VVT cam and porting my heads. Hope my results are as good as yours! |

Here is an old thread. Gives you an idea without ported heads. My cam is very different than the ss1 vvt. Much less overlap, torque peaks a little later and my motor will pull 6600+ due to to the 118 lobe seperation. Your motor should make more power and peak a little sooner. More concentrated powerband if you will. Dyno numbers don't mean everything. It's a measure of power and a tuning tool but like Bo said in another thread recently , I could pull 420rwhp on one dyno and maybe 470 on another. The track is the only true measure. I also have gears and stall which makes a huge difference as well. Last edited by ss camaro-monte; 04-29-2023 at 05:49 PM. |

Agreed. Dyno numbers are not the "end all; be all", but they do give some indication of performance. I have gears as well, but I am still on the stock converter. The only reason I am doing a cam swap in the first place is to get these crappy AFM lifters out of my engine. My ultimate goal is to go forced induction.

Yeah I can't wait to see your results because a friend of mine wants to do the same thing. So how long did it take them to schedule you after you guys called them?

It took about a week and a half after I ordered the parts to get scheduled. I'm told it's going to be at least 4 weeks until I get the car back due to the lead time to port the heads. One week down, and 3 more to go as of 4/28. I try not to think about the car; but I'm pretty stoked, so it's hard not too. I'll start a new thread with the results as soon as I get the car back.

Took me about 7 weeks total but I had more things then just motor mods but honestly I don't care if it took 9 weeks. As long as it is done right is what matters.

Amen, brother! There's a reason I drove 2.5 hours from home to take my car to GPI. I don't trust any other shop around me to do the work.
