I have read similar posts like this; however, I have not experienced anything of the sort with my TrueTrac. It has been dead quiet since install.

I'm surprised GPI missed these issues. In addition to expertise, attention to detail is what separates the good shops from the bad. I will be sure to look my car over before I start the drive home.

Never had a problem with it in over 30k miles. My brother and I got it clamped down no problems with just sockets but it must have either been loose already or came loose on my way back from Arkansas.

The 2nd pic is the left side o2 sensor. When we found the catback hanging we also found the o2 sensor hanging. It burned through the sheath but not the wires. We put electric tape on it and zip tied it in 3 places away from the header. My guess is they did zip tie it like the other side but it was too close to the header and melted. We have 3 zip ties on that sucker now and away from the header. The other problem we found was that the o2 sensors were not tightened in the header on either side. They were in there but just sitting loosely. We tightened them down.

Last picture is the hood. This is the one that is the big problem. It isn't aligned correctly were it meets the front nose. This is the other problem my brother and I can't fix. The bumpers don't help with the adjustment and the front nose is perfectly lined up with the fenders so the nose is on correctly but it must be something with the latch or something else that isn't correct on the bottom piece where the latch connects. Don't know why it didn't line up but it didn't have the problem before.

Lastly the lights are pointed up to high and when I drive at night I get the high beams turned on and flashed at me because I am apparently blinding oncoming traffic. Don't know how that happen and they said they didn't adjust lights but again problem wasn't there when I dropped off the car.

Any of you guys have any ideas for the hood? I will post some pics tomorrow but I am out of my element with the hood latch and how to fix that. Otherwise off to the bodyshop to try and fix or figure out.

Mine bangs around like an unbalanced washing machine lmao. I have a stick shift car though so IDK if that play a part. From what I've read its normal, my dad has a true trac in his gto and its the same way and it works and hasn't destroyed its self so I don't worry about it lol

My true trac was a bit noisy as well but the exhaust muffled it a bit. The noise will be worse if you swapped out cradle and/or diff bushings as well.

Well had some new issues I am getting resolved after getting the car back. I will post pics.
First pic is a bolt that was missing where the driveshaft meets the differential. Took it to circle d in houston and they installed a new bolt and tightened all the loose ones. That problem got solved and stopped some of the vibration in the rear.lol

Started having the transmission get really hot here in 105 Texas heat. It got up to 240-250 and I never had it get that hot with the stock cooler. Gpi said I needed a fan with the transmission cooler that they installed. Well took it back to circle d transmission and they said the cooler was big enough but mounted way way to low and not getting airflow. They also recommended I change to a larger surface area cooler that is 40000 btu instead of the derele 32000 that GPI installed that is more compact. This is the corrected transmission cooler view. Car now won't get over 175 in 105 temperatures in back to back traffic and running hard through the gears.

Anyone need a 3200btu cooler.lol
I guess I could also use it as an oil cooler since it isn't just a transmission cooler. It is rated for higher psi.

Still have to get the hood fixed but at least it closes. Going to install a z28 reproduction grill when I get the hood fixed at the same time. I know it's hard to see in the grill picture but the previous cooler was mounted about 5-6 inches lower. Way way to low. This new cooler is only slightly more btu but longer and taller. Circle d made custom brackets and dilled and tapped custom screw holes for the cooler on the grill side. Fixed the problem.

Glad you are getting your ride squared away, a damn shame gpi put you in that type of situation.

Yeah I've spent about $950 to work on the drive shaft and the trans cooler so far. I still have to get the hood fixed we couldn't figure out what's wrong with it it's something with the latching system. Going to take it in in a week or two and get them to fix the hood put in the new grill and there's a dent from a moron that I'm going to have them fix. Also ordered a drive shaft safety loop from metco. After I get everything squared away I'm probably going to look at building the car up if I seriously want to put a supercharger on it. But I think the next thing I will probably do is look into some coilovers for Street strip. Anybody got any recommendations for a good coil over set up for Street strip. Something that rides nice on the street but can be used at the drag strip the couple of times a year I'm planning to go.

It's a shame that customer service has become so shoddy. I had asimilar problem with a speed shop years ago which is why i doo all my own work now. Good service is like winning the lottery these days.

lol, told my wife my next car mod is to buy a piece of land and build a shop first on it before the house. That way I can have my own lifts.lol I was outside in the garage just working on the car today, not even under it and I was pouring down sweat.lol It was fun and easy at 20 in the Texas heat but now that I am over 40 it is no fun crawling underneath and trying to work on this cars, especially after my shoulder surgery.lol
Yep, my dream is my own shop, with lifts and AC. Heck throw in my own toilet and fridge. Wife can have the house I will take the shop.lol

I have pedders extreme coil overs and couldn’t be happier. For the price they are great on the street and weight transfer is far superior than stock struts. I haven’t even messed with them yet and they are set in the middle.

Been hearing a few people complain about gpi workmanship. They build great engines but everything around it seems to be half fast. But that’s pretty much every big shop now. They can’t keep up with demands and hire more mechanics than their core few who built their reputation. Even complete street who built mine had a few things I needed to fix which is crazy after how much I spent.

I know a Tru-Trac is a very different set up than stock, but my stock diff was very finicky about gear lube. It's only quiet with GM's lube. It was noisier than hell even with Amsoil gear lube. Maybe just finding what the Eaton likes?

What’s really surprising that GPI hasn’t weighed in on this thread. Cammer works for GPI an is normally very active.

I've been watching it. I wasn't involved with this job at all, so I don't know the ins and outs of it, and try not to stick my nose into things I don't have valuable input to lend. I did touch base with Ryan to pass on the feedback. To our knowledge, the customer never reached out to us with any of the concerns that were expressed here. Not much we can do to try to make something right if we're never given the opportunity.

I'm not excusing any work that wasn't done in accordance with our high standards. We pride ourselves on not being just another shop - we strive for excellence in everything we do. Certainly it seems like there were missed opportunities here - and we're always open to discuss those directly. Complaining on a forum rather than reaching out isn't a productive way to resolve anything.

Overall, it seems like a variety of concerns, some related to work we performed, and some related to other unrelated causes out of our hands. I don't work out in the shop, so I can't speak to those issues - but I can tell you that the right way to address those would be to make a call to us directly, and talk with Kevin who is our service coordinator. We can also be reached by e-mail at support@gwatneyperformance.com.
