I have always used leather conditioner and it keeps the leather from drying out and cracking. Especially if it sees a lot of sun light. I found new cushions for mine because those where getting flat. But haven't see the leather covers in a while. You can get aftermarket made ones with different color stitching's and options.

FWIW my car was almost always indoors. I think I needed dieting products more than leather-care products.

And the pieces that are torn up aren't really leather, but vinyl and leather will dry out even in your garage.

If you are dragging you back across that cracked area getting in, you may as well consider that seat back cover a consumable. I noticed a spot on my Recaros where the previous owner wore through the die on the leather and I was making it worse every time I got in the car. I touched it up with some black shoe polish and now I try to remember to sit down while my feet are still outside the car and turn by body and feet into the car to minimize wear on the seat back. A PITA for sure, but my kid is already going to have to go to community college for what those seats cost and I'm sure not looking for a second set.
