I have always used leather conditioner and it keeps the leather from drying out and cracking. Especially if it sees a lot of sun light. I found new cushions for mine because those where getting flat. But haven't see the leather covers in a while. You can get aftermarket made ones with different color stitching's and options.

I noticed a spot on my Recaros where the previous owner wore through the die on the leather and I was making it worse every time I got in the car. I touched it up with some black shoe polish and now I try to remember to sit down while my feet are still outside the car and turn by body and feet into the car to minimize wear on the seat back. A PITA for sure, but my kid is already going to have to go to community college for what those seats cost and I'm sure not looking for a second set.
