Thanks Number_9!

Ted,

Thanks as well my friend. I loved your CAI shootout, great nonbiased detailed info. Can`t wait to see you test the ADM Race, it seems to be a huge improvement over the street version to get ambient or close to ambient IAT`s.

I don't have my dyno sheet here at "work" but I have Kooks 1 7/8 headers, complete Corsa exhaust, Roto-Fab CAI and a dyno tune from Livernois Motorsports and the #'s were 383HP/387 lb.ft. torque @ the rear tires. This is an L99 auto.

Thanks IPS Brandon, and Dave Coyle. We really would need your dynograph especially since its way higher than any we are seeing. Was yours on a Dynojet SAE corrected?

Smoothing Level of 4 on yours IPS Brandon? Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the smoothing level also effect the numbers? I see Smoothing Level's of 5 on my dynographs.

There will be fewer spikes w/ more smoothing, from my limited understanding, so it could affect ever so slightly if there was a "hickup spike" For lack of a better term.

Biggest thing for comparrison sake is that it is a Dynojet and SAE corrected. Plus w/ the graph if the smoothing is set at zero and we see a spike thats 5rwhp over the rest of the graph, we know to reduce its claim by 5rwhp...

I can already hear the lamentations over doing that....

Your right here.

Most Dynos use some form of Spark sensor for RPM, anyone who knows anything about automotive electrical systems Knows they there is enough RFI to light the Christmas Tree in Rockefella Plaza.

So there are a lot of spikes cause by electrical RFI.

Anyone who Owns a Dyno I suggest you look in to an OPTICAL sensor for RPM pickup, this is what I use and there is NO Spikes, it is 100% accurate at any engine speed.

Simply put we Place a Special Reflective Tape on the Crank Balancer or Pulley, it shoots a laser beam which is reflected back to an electronic EYE.

Superflow also takes 100 Samples per Second which usually works out to 23-24 pages of data, then using an averaging software condenses it down to 2-3 pages of data.

So We get NO spikes due to Electrical RFI and our averaging software would get rid of them if they were there.

I do have the option of Spark Pickup but in my opinion it is far too inaccurate for my taste.

Let's say I am spoiled by the Optical Sensor.

Ted.

Thanks for the detailed info Ted. Very nice explanation. Is it true that the superflow is better for tuning than a dynojet since it is a load bearing dyno? or can most tuners figure out what the difference between their dynojet and the load on the street is and adjust accordingly?
