P.S. - Heres a short write up on the new 09 eclipse... 'course, remember, this is only if, for some reason, I can't get the Camaro. Which, well, is not likely at this point unless they decide to cancel my enlistment bonus. At which point I wouldn't be able to afford the eclipse either.
Yeah they look better than the 07's, especially up front. They had a ralliart concept that looked amazing, but it got canned.

Great choice. I hope you enjoy it. I wouldn't have bought an 04 GTO over that. Even though it's FWD, it's a well put together car from what I've read.
Thank you! Yeah I love it so far. It hauls and has a sweet look to it.

Not a bad deal! When you compare this car to a VW GTI, the savings is big! And the performance is much better.

Have you tried out the no lift shift yet????

I took a realists perspective, and realized that I probably wont be able to afford the V8 Camaro, and that I would always wish I had the V8 if I got the V6. I started comparing the specs and numbers and realized that for just about the same price, I could buy an 08 Cobalt SS now, and probably be able to beat the V6 Camaro in many different ways.

After the test drive I fell in love. With 260 hp and 260 lbs./ft. of torque on a car that weighs in under 3000 lbs, the thing simply flew. It was the smoothest ride I have ever taken, and hitting 105 on the test drive and not even realizing it made me realize just what this thing could do.

I wound up getting Victory Red with the black and red interior, and the SS logo stitched into the seat. The interior is what might have sold this vehicle though. Beautiful and super comfortable seats, with red leather inserts to match the red paint job. Great looking gauges, including the boost gauge, and a very nice pioneer sound system.

Maybe someday down the road I will find myself behind the wheel of a Camaro, but I will definitely be satisfied until then.
I'm happy for you and don't take what I'm gonna say as an attack against your car but:
This is why we need a supercharged Z28. I've never tried a cobalt, but I certainly don't want my camaro to be treated like a cobalt i.e. with SS badges.

We need something differenciating the camaro from other GM cars.

Sorry for that "Z28 whining" into that thread!

For me, I think you should have waited. If I got a car before the camaro comes out, then I saw it on the road later, I would feel sad that I could not waited..... So I'm waiting!!!!

No shoulda, coulda, woulda's. Enjoy our new car. Have fun!!!

I will be waiting until Spring.

I faced a similar situation about a month ago. I tried out an HHR SS. That was a very enjoyable car to drive. Only problem was I am too broad shouldered and couldn't sit straight in the driver's seat. Ended up twisting my back out of shape after driving it a day. Dealer was pretty nice about it after I explained why I wasn't going to seal the deal.

Hey you'll get no bad mouthing from me! If I had the extra money I'd have a Mustang GT right now to hold me over for the Camaro.

Yes I have and its phenomenal....there's virtually zero turbo-lag with it, which really helps with the 0-60 times and what not. It's a great feature.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree. There should be a top of the line Camaro, and it shouldn't be on the same level as the Cobalts and HHR's. Which is another one of the many small reasons I decided to get the Cobalt. It pretty much came down to price, mpg, weight, wait and a few little things with the Camaro's design. I still love the Camaro and I wouldnt doubt if I got one in a few years, but I think I made a good decision in getting this Cobalt for now.

I think I'll be able to handle it well. If I thought I would be able to afford the V8 and the gas it uses, I would have waited too.

Yeah, the Camaro will be a very nice car, and I'm sure I will love it. But then again it's not the ONLY car.

Thats a good-looking ride! Thanks for keeping it "in the family." Enjoy it!

You get Brembos, the Z06-inspired rims, and more -- nice.

Be sure to report back on your overall impressions over time. Thanks.

What about the electric power steering? Doesn't this car have electric power steering? How does that feel compared to conventional hydraulic power steering? That has me curious.

I have the same issue, I may not be able to wait either. The 'stang's warranty is up in January, and thanks to a horror story my sister has I really don't like driving a car without a warranty. I figure if I can find one quickly, I can maybe get a Camaro SS around March or so. However I don't want to wait until summer or fall to get one, nor do I want to buy an additional warranty if I'll only have the car for two more months.

I love the steering on it. Its very smooth. I really have not found one thing I do not like about this car. THe only thing I wish was easier was putting an aftermarket head unit and sub in. I guess I have to buy a couple adapters to keep the onstar and steering wheel mounted controls in tact. Could get pricey, but I can live with the stock system for now, it's damn good for being stock.

If you're happy, if you enjoy it, then it is a good decision. Life's short, we may be all dead before having a camaro so ...

Moreover, you will always have someone who will have a more performing car than yours, than mine, than ours. You wil lalways have a ferrari, lambo or bugatti man to think the camaro, vette or else sucks.

So, enjoy. And a car is not so much like a house ... it's quite easy to sell it if any you want to.

--> PS: if you look at my only drive right now (that can't ride actually!), you understand you will always have a guy with a car with lower performance .... actually ... NO performance (out of being able to swim!!)
