If the new tuner can't start from scratch, find a newer one. Otherwise, grenade.

I can download the gm stock tune file off hptuners for that year, he can start with that. PM your email if you want it.

I never said he couldn’t tune from scratch. I said he didn’t choose too. Nobody wants to start completely over if there are options for some assistance. I’m also quite certain that he is more than capable of tuning this car and has a large following to boot.
Didn’t come on here to debate he experience. Simply asked for help if anyone was able. Thank you for your time in answering though. |

All of the GM pro's (the ones that do it for a living) on HPT Forum always say they rather start from an original file, some even to the point they reload the file from GM as the starting point. And going from a NA car to FI, there are many ways for it to be set up, so not sure what your tuner wants done anyway. Does he want a stock tune (start from scratch) or a starter tune (modified, not start from scratch).
I'm just trying to save you from another blown motor. |

He said a stock tune would work or a tune that has base mode as listed as well. He has tuned 1,000’s of cars and to my knowledge hasn’t blown any motors. I think he is just trying to save himself some time and is some time since we have a race scheduled this Saturday. |

I will warn you that you don't want to do anything like take someone else's HPT file and "write all" to your ECM. You will need to modify your file to match it and then rewrite your modified file to the ECM.
But, does you "tuner want someone to enter the injector data in? Set it to run it in "speed density"? Once you start digging into this, asking for anything but a stock file doesn't make much sense. And the "stock" file is available for anyone with an HPTuners account to download. And I think you can create the account without even having purchased HPT. |

I suggest you send a Email to Ted Jannetty. One of the best out there.
