Miguel, unfortunately for me, you've interjected enough of an image in my mind of watching the world go by, that I think of you often.... like every time I climb behind the windshield of my truck.... It's a sobering and scary memory....

We need to grab lunch again someday.... I met you in Okie Homer, it's your turn to travel this time... Marion Tejas... Come'on.... I'll holla at the rusty dude, he can come over too...

When I retired the last thing I wanted to look at was a steering wheel... I really only bought this car because my pickup gets 10mpg and I still gotta go to town occasionally or starve to death, but eventually I may get the fever, when I do you're first on the list. I hear y'all got pretty good Mexican food, some of the best burrito's I ever had was from a car trunk in El Paso.

After almost 40 years of cross country trucking, the psychological damage goes deep.. so deep... so very de---

Old truckers are just a little push away from becoming super villains

Thanks for the work you did, truckers keep this country running. I wouldn't want that job, especially post-Covid when everyone turned into turds.

Just remember, A Camaro (or any toy car for that matter) is a hobby for enjoyment, and a not means of living. At least for me, I get more enjoyment out of working on and caring for it, than I do driving her.

John

I appreciate the kudo's-- and you're surely welcome.

I'm the worst with names but yours is burned into my cerebral cortex ... but you're also, and always will be 'John' now lol

Delivered a truck load of water and toilet paper to a Walmart store mid-covid, employees took it out to the floor a pallet at a time... it was embarrassing the reaction of the shoppers. But I'll also remember the grace and courtesy the employees showed as people ripped into the product like starving lions on a fresh gazelle carcass.

I bought an 18 SS 1LE hail damage car off copart, L fender and 1/4 panel repairs were started before insurance decided to total it. Need to get left side painted then thought I'd give PDR a try with the remainder, we shall see. But yeah, I've already spent more time staring at it making mental notes than driving it.

Sorry Robert, making a mess in your thread, I need a maid

Hmmmm, I might have to disagree a bit on this comment, but only because the work to driving ratio was way off kilter.... For 6 months of work, including pit driving, and return road pedaling, I'm guessing a total of 24 minutes of driving for 6 months of work... 1 minute Pit to grid, grid to start line idle time, 24 ish seconds for a mile, and another 20-30 seconds for slow down and turn off with the chute hanging, then about 5 minutes back to the pit... 5-6 times on a good weekend, less all too often... But the 24ish second passes were always grin inducing, even the broken part passes... Maybe the only time I was actually really mad was when I got on it too hard off the line and slung her across the track from ditch to ditch... before getting out of it and going back to the grid for another three hour wait....

Mike, you take your boots off at the door, so you can track all the manure in here you want... You gotta ways to go to catch Doug...

So you cool with me getting stoned (welcome to Okie homie) and posting music vids all night?

Speaking of vids, this came across my radar, smart dudes talking about things they know very well that affects us all... The whole vid is worthwhile, but I marked it at a point where they're talking oil change intervals. It's a diesel subject, but also appropriate for modern gas engines.

I get what your saying. I guess for me, the ride is as enjoyable (or more) as the destination. The reward you get from all the work is right up there though.

I should have got you to send me that output shaft? that you destroyed, add walnut and that woulda been great wall-art for your shop.

My hip quit hurting, I'm sure it was from poor truck seating but I'll give the win to prescription homegrown pain sedatives. Now that I think of it, sciatica hasn't visited me since retirement.
