When you shift it out of park and the high and low beam headlamps are off the daytime running lamps will illuminate.

There is no "park" in the Z/28.

As far as I know the DRL (headlights) are always on when the switch is in "AUTO". But I'm always in the driver's seat.

Seems like Gen5DIY had a way to make them operate as fog lights instead of DRLs.

The problem we have in Canada is that the DRL have to be all the time when the car is in gear and you cannot shut them off.The low beam light is fed a lower voltage for DRL .I have asked the local GM dealer and they are looking into I hope it is just a software change

Once the e-brake is released and seated down the headlights come on in manual 5th gen cars, they act as the daytime running lights.

Pretty sure you got taken advantage of. In 'auto' setting the headlights act as DRL. Changing to kilometers, I don't know about.
