TAG UR IT was the shunt, turns out... there's even a pic of him in the trunk someplace.

I guess it's one of those "If you know, you know".

It was a fun time to be part of the site, we were all jones-ing for any new info/pics of the 5th gen, I didn't actually join the site till pics started showing up, I'm kinda shy like that, but the site saw a ton of growth in 2008 once we knew the car would return.

I don't personally recall a lot of info previous to the black and white iver car, with the shunt in the trunk, besides speculation drawings that were off by a mile.

It was a very long running joke of who is Shunt, and why is Shunt in the trunk??? It made the rounds for a very long time and raises its hilarious head every so often… in the most random places…

There was an “informative” piece of paper attached in a conspicuous place in the cabin of the early Camaros… It explained that “Shunt is in the trunk,” and people ran with it, the very earliest members and lots of other OG’s…

Mr Twisty is certainly one of the eldest OG’s, both in time on the site and in years of life… He arose from the dead or missing files and bombed old threads and places he used to haunt… Members build threads, some of the biggest and most heavily followed members build threads here on the site… The old folks thread in off topic etc… He was missing or inactive for a long while and suddenly comes back and hammers a bunch of threads… So I monikered him Shunt II, arisen from the trunk….
I'll take it, till Doug wants it back

It was funnier at the time because we still had "unknowns" about the 5th gens and speculations abound and many had nothing else to do waiting for the cars to roll out.

That's the one that started the Shunt speculation!

One thing I didn't find what the thread that he irritated Scott... I'd like to read that.
Scott was constantly irritated back then, and loved every minute of it, his car was returning and we were thrilled!

Brian, I just stumbled on this. https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2999
That's really early! Fbodfather auctioned off those headlight doors at the Indy get-together in 08? - 09? (I forgot) I tried to get them but I think Mr Berger ended up with them.

It really was! Seems now we're on the tail end of the ride, but maybe it's just a, "To Be Continued"

Congratulations!

99% of my posts are like this, useless as teats on a bull.

At the core of the thread was Fbodfather - Scott Settlemire. He was a Camaro product specialist for GM involved in the last generation or two of the old F-bodies, and heavily instrumental in the rollout of the 5th Gen Zeta Camaro, as well as the “13 members of which there were 12” Team Camaro members who provided much of the input for the design and improvements to the development of our 6th Gen Alphas around 2014-15. He’s now retired and a legend among long-time Camaro enthusiasts.

For a period of time he actually drove a pre-production IVER 5th Gen as his personal vehicle during final testing.

I’m friends with him on FB. He’s a great guy and was a wealth of information. He’s really missed on the forum.

If you're talking about THOR, the yellow car, he has it now. I would say 'still' has it, but I THINK it was sold by GM then the purchaser eventually sold it to Fbodfather.

That could be. I don’t remember which engineering stage Thor is, because I was under the impression all IVERs get demolished once the program begins full standard production.

Just for everyone’s reference……

This emoticon for “Not The Real Headlights” stemmed from a huge thread on the 5th Gen forum around 2009.

People had seen spyshots of the IVER Zetas around Detroit with those headlights and freaking out on the forum to Scott (Fbodfather).

He was spending half the time reassuring, then yelling at people that these weren’t the real headlights. Then it became part of the Shunt epic thread.

Probably some of the best internet fun anyone could have.
