I think that might be reaction time. I could be confusing different videos, because I’ve seen a lot of 3 Performance vs Hellcat videos and in one of them they showed the slips. The 3P driver had a much better reaction time than the Hellcat. Also should note that front wheels often don’t move when the rears are burning out. Spinnin’ ain’t winnin’.

That’s true and I am typically not one to harp on the acceleration difference. It is what it is, drive what you like. Just in this case I was handed the “toaster oven” analogy on a silver platter and I just couldn’t resist swatting that one outta the park by showing a 3P toasting a Hellcat.

It’s still a toaster oven.

You like racing EVs race EVs. Put EVs in NASCAR, see how long the sport lasts.

Just imagine the rush of 43 silent vehicles accelerating as the pace car pulls off. I mean, what an adrenaline rush

Are we supposed to care about NASCAR? Back when the cars resembled factory cars it was a far different sport. Now with all the games played to cheat and get a yellow to refuel and obnoxious drivers with all purpose built cars and engines with nothing overlapping what we might mod to our cars. Now sports cars play sounds over internal and external speakers to pretend to throwbak to old school sounds. Lame to me also. You going to whine about the 'ring now? Another thing none of us here do except a very few and a Camaro isn't the ideal thing for that either nor are current BEV but people can make do with what they got. Or maybe next you will complain about rock climbing off road or pikes peak runs? Why do you bring up off topic things we don't care about?

They do race EVs. It's called Formula E and nobody watches because it's dreadfully boring.

Dont forget an EV won the Dakar Rally this year, considerably less boring than Formula E too

FWIW I do not race EVs. I prefer to race my Camaro and road track my MR2. But when people post opinion stated as fact I have a really annoying habit of finding facts that conflict with the opinion. You think EVs are toaster ovens, I find a clip (one of many) of a toaster oven toasting a muscle car. It happens. Get over it.

Nope. You’re still completely missing the point.

The fact is EV and ICE are two completely different types of propulsion and two completely different approaches to transportation.

So comparing them, racing them, attempting to spew YOUR opinions as facts are simply incorrect.

Maybe if we strap a couple of Pratt and Whitney F119 PW100s to that Hellcat so it can do 0-165 in 2.1 seconds you’d see my point.

Well there is this...

The Shelby GT500 Code Red can run a quarter mile in 8.593 seconds at 161.81 miles per hour. This makes it one of the fastest accelerating cars available.

At some point though, the speed/acceleration lose it's excitement when it's in silence. I don't care that they're faster because for me, it's not just about the speed. The sound(real, not artificial), smell and feeling of speed are all equally important to me and it's all of those things together that made me a gearhead.

No matter how fast an EV is, it will get boring at some point.

It gets boring the second you open the door and are greeted with a charge gauge instead of a fuel gauge.

I’d actually have a Cadillac Lyric in my garage right now if it came with the 3.6. But ol MartinJim over there wants to chastise my position on EV.

The company he worked for lost a guaranteed return customer for life (not to mention we all now know he killed the 3800, so there’s that too). But you’re retired Jim, right? So it doesn’t bother you.

Yes it is astounding what $250k can buy. It's not street legal however. I did notice fast Lucid Sapphire and for the similar price can go 8.9 155mph.
You can see it running right next to a demon with huge tires on a super sticky VHT track. It's a 4 door sedan that could be going to walmart with a couple dogs in back! Street legal warranty and anyone can buy it.
I won't debate boring. I also like stealth on the street also besides the look at me I have the biggest...engine. If you drive an AWD BEV and do some launches on a normal surface what's impressive is how dialed in they have the no-slip no drama acceleration. Best results are just slapping the go pedal to the floor and let it control everything.
Not like trying to (back)pedal the throttle as you lose traction and catch up with the tach as the tires just spun and you lost power due to hitting the rev limiter and all that mess in real street driving with a powerful supercharged car. Yes it's fun but not consistent or fast. I'm surprised what a difference AWD makes and not having the computer keep chopping the power (ICE) to keep it under control.

Exactly, no driver engagement. You made the case against them IMO.
