And just like that the Peter Pan #7 is for sale in the US. They’ve had it since they bought it from GM in the 50’s from what I’ve read. Crazy they are selling it after all these years.

One of them got damaged in the rear in ‘56 and GM retired it early. It was sold off when the parade of progress ended and later another future liner donated its rear body section as well as the rear axle to the one that was damaged for restoration. The one donating the parts was later bought and converted to an open rear car hauler retaining the original front section. Basically GM used these as exhibits with elaborate displays along the country wide parade routes celebrating American ingenuity and advancement. Wish it was still like that today… I wish our America was still the America of the some of the earlier generations, but that is a whole other subject that will get me in trouble.

I’m pretty sure the car hauler is one of the ones in Germany now but it was originally built to this configuration in California. These things are fascinating to me for some reason. Only 9 are currently accounted for and the other 3 are presumed gone.

They are SUPER cool. I can see that they are a very niche type of vehicle though and not practical. I wonder how the field of vision is in that thing. It must feel like driving a skyscraper being so high up in the cockpit, with such a wide angle windshield.
