40’s in the front 30’s in the back

Quick question, I just installed some rear tires and noticed they were thread 30 and the fronts at 40. Pretty big difference and looks goofy. My question is, is it ok to drive like that for bit until I change the fronts to a little smaller as well?

OP means sidewall height. They have for example 245/40/20 and 275/30/20 size tires. looks goofy. im shocked stabilitrac isnt freaking out.

They should match for example: 245/35/20 and 275/35/20

The question I have is, why would you have a 30 series tire on the rear anyway? I have 335's on the rear, and they are 30's because the wider your tire is, the lower your sidewall ratio is going to be, and a 40 aspect ratio on the front is of stock dementions.

Why I went 30’s in the back i honestly have no clue why. Thought it would look smoother but didn’t realize it would be that noticeable. I guess now I know for future. Next ones will be 40’s again. Seem I’d need 22’s to make 30’s looks a little better. It literally makes my rear rims look smaller then they are 😂

Different size tires don't hurt anything, but the ABS looks for different wheel speeds which is why it will throw an error if they are too far apart. I run 30s all the way around on both cars but 295/325 on the turbo car and 305 square on the vert. Good for handling but a bit harsher than a higher profile tire. Because of the modified Z28 shocks on the turbo car, 295/30 is the largest tire I can run on the ZL1 wheels or I would run bigger up front.

What width are the tires front and back, can you dismount them and put the front tires on the rear, and the rear tires on the front? Or are they stock widths, which you would not be able to do that. They look like stock wheels, but painted/coated?

The aspect ratio, while it is a factor in tire diameter/height, isn't the only factor. It's just that, an aspect ratio related to the tire width. For example, a 275/40/20 is 28.7" tall, so is a 315/35/20, as is a 245/45/20.

I am currently on 275/40 fronts with 305/35 out back. The 305/35 is 28.4" tall and not very noticeably smaller unless you're looking for it, but it is smaller than the front by .3".

At one point I had the 275/40/20's on the front which were 28.7 diameter, I put my set of 335/30/20's , which were a 28.0 diameter on the rear to see if they would fit on my 11 inch wheels, the did fit just fine with no clearance issues. The difference in diameter from the fronts and backs was .7, which is about 3/4th of an inch, and it did not mess with my ABS system at all. I did take the 335's back off because I didn't like the bigger gap it made in the rear fender well. I put my 315/35's back on.
