Is there a way to charge the battery from under the front hood?

I currently connect my CTEK charger through the trunk but get tired of removing the aftermarket liner and factory cover just to get to the battery.

Didn't know if I was missing something?

Many thanks in advance!

Most chargers come with a pigtail you can wire directly to the battery. I use the jump post in the engine compartment and stick the pigtail through the grill, with extension wiring coming off the jump post. It’s plugged in all the time, when not being driven.

Yes, it's how I'm plugged in all of the time. Pop the hood and there's a remote positive terminal on the driver's side, and there's a remote negative near the airbox

I hook the pig tail to the battery and run it up the truck and plug it is, All I have to do is pop the trunk, Some put the pig tail though a plug in the trunk and reach under and hook it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I have the pigtail connected to the battery in the trunk now. I'll take a new look into both areas now and go with one of them.

Many thanks for your time!

That is the way I connect my trickle charger (battery tender) too! Works great.

apologies in advance for the dumb question but what's the difference between charging keeping the trunk open and doing it keeping the hood open?
why are you trying to hard to charge it from the front?

Hood doesn’t need to be open. Or the trunk, for that matter. Depends how you wire it. Out the front of the grill and probably a decent spot in the rear so you don’t have to open anything.

You have to remove the tire well cover to access the battery. Hooking the maintainer up under the hood is just easier.

I leave a pig tail up from the battery it is very easy to access and is not in the way, less clutter under the hood as well.

you can just extend the length of the wires for your pigtail so that they stick out just outside of the spare tire cover / floor mat. Simple cut, solder, and shrink wrap. For a while I would just keep the trickle charger plugged into the pigtail, and just unplug the whole charger from the wall and store it in the cars cargo net when I go out and drive.

I personally need to park my car facing forward in the garage, so I do the front. I don't always keep the hood open, during longer winter storage, I run it down and out the bottom and then cover the car.
