Chunk Out of Wheel finish - Filler Suggestions?

Ouch. Pulled out of the neighborhood casino last night and hit the median curb with the rear tire in the dark. Didn't help that my heavily tinted windows were up.

What is the best filler I can get to repair that and make the surface smooth? I intend on Plasti-dipping the wheels before gifting it to my granddaughter, so keep that in mind.

Thanks for the assist!

Oh crap! Been there and done that with one of my old stockers, just left it alone. I also whacked one of my front Feradda's on a curb leaving a gas station, had to purchase a new one at 584 bucks!! Good luck, hope you can fins a way to repair it.

Also plenty of videos on YouTube. They make a touch up paint which will make it look better, but I doubt it will completely fill the area where powder coat is missing. Never tried it myself though.

I have tried PlastiDip and it scratched just has easily as rattle can paint on a wheel and did not peel off when I tried to go back to stock. I don't recommend it.

I agree! Stay away from Plasti Dip. Better off with just touching it up with a color close enough to it.

Thanks for the heads up on the PlastiDip, guys. I've seen some pretty good looking wheels treated with the stuff but had never actually used it, myself.
Probably will just touch it up. When I talked to the granddaughter last night, she said she had intentions of putting a different set of wheels on it, anyhow.

We put it on the wheel machine and it wasn't bent, and wasn't leaking air either. I hit right on the lip where the wheel and tire meet. When I ordered the new one from PK Auto Designs, they said that they only had 2 left in my size and style, and that Feradda wasn't going to make that wheel anymore! Got lucky on that deal.. But it cost me. Now I have a spare wheel and tire mounted up if I should ever need it. The big ding doesn't look too bad, but I know it is there, so I ordered a new one just because.

Might want to take it to a wheel repair specialist. I've bent a few Corvette rims on track and had Express Powdercoat and Wheel Repair in the Phoenix area restore the wheels to "like new" condition. Won't hurt to ask.

If I was keeping this car I would look into that for sure, or find a spare from a junkyard that isn't trashed, but since the grandkid intends on replacing the stock wheels with something more exciting, I think I'll just fill it in as best I can with a pigment that closely matches the original powder coat color.

Wise move, sir! Sucks that you had to do it, but over the long haul, it really is "cheap insurance" to make sure you can keep a matching set of wheels on your ride!

Yes sir, agreed!! And when I did mess up my OEM wheel back when, I bought a small bottle of "Midnight Silver" touch up paint from my dealership, I think, that I used to touch it up. Might have been Autozone, not sure, but that is the color of the OEM wheels. Blended pretty nicely..
