My ebrake went limp today and car will inch roll on incline in any gear with clutch released! 53k original owner daily driver miles, no clutch chatter. Help thoughts? Thanks

Reverse gear is best for parking a manual transmission and trying to hold it in place. One test for clutch is to put it under full throttle load in a higher gear like 4, 5, or 6th and see if the rpms rise quicker than the speed. These gears put the highest loads on the clutch.

Thanks for the reply, make sense. I’m pretty sure its the clutch slipping as I noticed recently it didnt take much depression to engage it. It’s in the garage with chocks
as I’m reluctant to drive it. I’m going to have it towed to the shop that does all my work to have it checked out.

Replaced broken brake but car will still roll some on even mild slope in any gear unless ebrake pulled to max. Mechanic said clutch is fine. He also installed my cam and said cam lift and overlap keeping valves open allowing pressure leaking.

Clutch has nothing to do with the car rolling while parked, its common for standard cars to move a little when first parked in gear, Use Reverse when parking. Gear lash and compression affect how much.
