i think the only way that could be more American is with a

It's an Amphib Landing Craft. I'd expect them to bolt that thing to a Destroyer, Cruiser, or something to that effect. Less lame.

Seeing that ship arrive in NY, and living in NY myself, and witnessing 'first hand' the devastation of the World Trade Center Towers, I feel so 'humbled' by this new ship that was built with pieces of steel from the Towers, and most likely 'pieces' of the poor souls that were in those Towers on that day...

Don't take that comment the wrong way, as what I am saying is that the 'hearts and souls' of all that were killed that day 'live on' in that beautiful new ship...

They will travel with that ship and with all the Navy Sailors and Marines deployed on that ship to 'wherever' it goes...

They are like the 'guardian angels' of the brave military personnel that are aboard to serve and protect 'all of us' here at home...

May God Bless all those that were lost and may God Bless all those that will serve on that ship as well.................

Being a Retired Squid, and having served on a couple of different ships, I have to say, the USS New York is a sleek beautiful vessel. he Fact that our Government approved the construction of this ship, and to use the Steel from the towers is a wonderful thing.

Hearing from you folks that live in New York, and had to deal with the tragedy first hand, and how you feel about the ship is very wonderful to hear as well.

Go Bless America - May we be true to the men and women who have sacrificed. May we be strong in our efforts to make the world a better and safer place, and may we be humble in our efforts. However, may we strike down the enemy and let them know we are United and determined to outlast them.
