2013 2SS GPI built & tuned 415, spec'd by Andrew Cammer. GPI ported intake/tb/heads, Tooley springs, CHE trunnions, Callies rotating assembly, Diamond pistons, GPI SS3 VVT, ATI 10% ud damper, Circle D 3800, Kooks ceramic coated lt's with green cats, Mishimoto rad & oil cooler, Derale trans cooler, Holley efi rails. DSS driveshaft, trutrac with 3.91's, G-Force renegades, Hendrix solid cradle bushings Bmr: poly diff bushings, Strange adjustable coilovers, sub frame connectors, ZL1 npps, controlled with a vac pump & mac boost control solenoid.

Our plugs were about 6 months old. When I removed them last week before finding the MAF sensor being the issue, I found them fouled and looking like they were covered with soot. I cleaned and checked the gap on each plug (the gap was fine), and put them back in. Now I am certain the soot was being caused by the MAF making the car run too rich.

Indeed! Thanks so much. A Facebook forum I am on was having me doing an AFM/DOD delete with lifters and a new camshaft.

Not that such a thing cannot happen, but to go from running great to essentially "rebuild the top end of your 118,000 mile engine" was too much of a leap for me to believe.
