high torque starter motor for Z/28?

folks, I've been plagued by the weak starter motor when hot since I've bought the car. Things got (much) better when I added a 2nd ground from the battery (thanks to advice found on this forums) but lately the starter motor has been quite weak when cold too. I suspect it's about to leave me

Is there any good, tested option for a replacement starter motor that is better suited to the high displacement of ls7?

I think this topic has been covered a few times in the other sections, and the advice was to just stick with an OEM starter. The fact that you have more cubes than the LS3/L99, and about the same compression ratio, 11.0-z28, LS3-10.7,,L99-10.5a high torque starter isn't needed, yours just might be getting tired from all the load from before you installed the other ground cable. Had to replace my starter after it got tired. I even had the additional ground done, helped a bit at first, then it didn't anymore, so I replaced the starter after 11 years, no more trouble. I now have both extra grounds, trunk and the bellhousing. Just my thoughts and experiences. Good luck..

Interesting, Ive had to leave my Z28 for 20 minutes before it starts after a hard run.
Got the manliest battery that I could but still not confident, did you literally just run a second ground lead from battery to starter?

When my car started doing the "hard cranking" issue after about 10-11 years, the battery was good, ran across the thread on here about the issue, installed a secondary ground in the trunk as others did, worked pretty good, for a while about 6 months, tested the starter and it was going bad, so I had it replaced with a new OEM one from my dealership, along with ANOTHER ground cable I saw posted on here, from the top passenger bell housing bolt to the frame of the car, bought my cable from the auto parts store, I think it was from GEN5DIY. Problem solved!! She starts up pretty quickly when cold, like never before, and pretty nicely when hot now too. I'll post the links so you can see. The Camaro they did it on is actually a Z28!

This was the first one I did. Bought the cable from the auto parts store as well.

this is almost my same situation. bought the car in 2022 (7yr old), slow crank especially when hot. added 2nd ground wire on trunk. Problem solved.
now it's slow at crank also when cold (after 2 years from fix). I suspect starter is about to go. I'll replace with OEM starter + a heat shield for starters : https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dei-010402

I'll let you know results, but I expect this to perfectly solve the issue. Battery is healthy

That's exactly what mine did! And how I took care of the problem, and I also installed that same DEI heat shield!! No more problems since the upgrades. It's been about 2-3 years now. Good luck sir!
