Gearbox replacement 3.6 AT, need help

Hello, dear forum users and administration! If I accidentally violated the forum rules, I ask you not to scold me and forgive me, I do not understand English well and the only ones who can help me with my question are you, the users of this forum. Perhaps this has been discussed a thousand times, but I do not have the necessary level of English to find the information I need here. I am writing a message through Google Translate, and I hope you will understand me if there are mistakes in my sentence.

So, I have a 5th generation Chevy Camaro, 2013, 3.6 engine and automatic transmission. I have an open differential, a gearbox without a lock (LSD).

I want to install a gearbox with a lock, that is, an LSD. But I studied the Internet, and if you take a V8 gearbox as a donor, then you also need to change the hubs, drives and other things. Buying all this and bringing it to my country (Russia) is very expensive.

Is it possible to find and buy a gearbox from a 3.6 engine with a manual transmission? As far as I know, it is equipped with LSD. Do I need to change any parts if I buy and install this gearbox?

Is there a difference between gearboxes from a 3.6 on a manual transmission, or from the SS version?

My VIN: 2G1FC1E38D9191942

Thank you for your help and understanding!

Hi, I know how hard it is to get parts, I have been trying to do the same thing to my Camaro here in China.

Mine is a 2011 and I finally installed the LSD a few months ago. Because it was so hard to get parts, I found a used SS differential and modified the inner splines and CV joints of my stock 3.6 axles to fit the LSD. I didn't even need to change the driveshaft.

My parts list looked like this: SS LSD differential and modified axles... pretty easy and kept the cost down.

If you can find a 3.6 with a manual transmission, they should come with the LSD.

There are some people here in China that will modify the open differential to an LSD, but it costs about the same as a SS LSD and the options for further modification are limited. I'm not sure how easy it is to ship things between Russia and China, but I imagine its easier that US and China at this time...

Anyway, here is a video that highlights some of the procedure to change the differential, but doesn't go through the struggle of the all the mistakes I made along the way, ordering wrong parts and having stuff not fit.

Hope that can help you and good luck!
