TC/Stabilitrak/Active Torque Management question

Hi! I have a question on how these nannies work: TC/Stabilitrak/Active Torque Management.

I'm new to the 2018 SS. I went to pass from 35 ish and decided to give it the beans, WOT. However, I could feel that the car was not giving me its all. The rear end wiggled a bit, the RPMs increased steadily and smoothly, but it felt like it wasn't hooking (but no tire squeal). They are brand new Pirelli all seasons.. and being focused on the road, didnt notice a flashing dash TC light, and it certainly didnt cut power abruptly.

My question is, are these "nannies" sophisticated enough to work this passively and smoothly? Could the active torque management be reeling her in in the background? or was I just really not hooking up (was also 30* out)?

The last true performance RWD I experienced was an 09 CTSV that truly put you in your place with the nannies cutting power/braking if you tried to drive it aggressively lol.

Although clean bill of health from the Chevy dealer I bought it from, just letting my anxiety get the better of me that it was limiting power for some other reason, and feeling bashful that my butt dyno wasnt picking up that the rear was loose (esp since it was quiet and no lights), and that mechanically nothing was slipping. Just the tires not hooking.

That was just telling you that the rear tires were slipping a bit, and the ABS system picked up. In order for it to dramatically cut the power, on my Camaro, you need to lose traction higher up in the revs, near red line, and then it will cut off the fuel so you don't possible over rev the engine.

Thanks for the feedback! it took quite some time to really hook but I was still moving at a solid pace. Happened to a lesser extent on a merge and wiggled a bit.. was focused on the road but still noticed no Tc light or anything.

But like I said the tires are brand new all seasons and its 30 degrees out lol. In manual mode I wised up and rolled into it and it pulled flawlessly, as it does in all other driving situations with the exception of the two times I punched it for a WOT, which wont happen again without summer temps and tires lol.

In short, if the TQ converter or transmission was slipping, this would be a totally different experience than what im describing?

Yes. The stock converter is very tight, you won't get any slip from that, at least I never did. Now I run a 4500 stall and the slip is a lot until it locks up. As for the brand new Pirelli's, they are crap no matter what temp it is outside! And as for the massive jolt and sudden power lose you described earlier, that is when the ECU detects that the engine revs are too high, and it cuts the fuel off to the injectors, yes it seems pretty violent at times, but it will save your engine. It is a stock safety measure.
