Well I never did get around to ordering a MGW shifter, but now I'm ready to order. I just need to decide on which style I want? Chef-beavis do you have any more pics of your retro shifter?

I have MGW with black que ball and it doesn’t get hot. Not like the seats anyway. Really good shifter. No issues

I have the Hurst aftermarket shifter in my SS. I put it in YEARS ago and it was fine for me until I drove another SS with the MGW. Ill be switching to MGW probably this year

That’s why I didn’t get a hurst. The reviews here stated hurst was not by and MGW was the cats meow. I will say installation is a PITA. If you have big hands trying to install that passenger clip. My girl has small hands so I was underneath shifting the transmission over enough to get it. But great shifter

I don’t know if I just disliked the plain, unstyled leather shifter on my 2010 2SS manual coupe, but I swapped it out for the Billet Plus 2(?) Hurst short shifter kit within about 4-5 months of driving/owning it. It’s fine, except getting on the factory dust boot underneath felt impossible for me to do; which sadly ended up with it getting ripped off and torn by the shift linkage and driveshaft…

Fast forward like 3-4 days into owning the aftermarket Hurst short shifter, and all I could find online was about how people complained about the buzzing and vibrating, rattling noises… I doubt the 3-4 little pieces of adhesive sound deadening provided in the install kit, would actually handle or appropriately take care of all of the NVH.. I ended up getting a Ford 350(?) manual shift boot, tossed the extra hardware away, cut a few extra small cuts, and then threw it up above the u-clip hardware at the stock shift linkage.

Only downside is that the rubber shift boot “DIY” ghetto rigging I did, pretty much fixed all of the janky issues that I gradually had quickly with the Hurst short shifter… That rubber shift boot cover slowed the shifting enough and gave it extra tension, as well as stopped most of the up and down play in the shifter… I’m pretty sure my rubber dust boot DIY was replaced like 8-9 months in, and then the new one “settles in” within around 3-4 months or so (depending how often you drive your car). I doubt that getting the $90-100 set of “upgrade” bushings Hurst provides, will fix everything up enough to validate that purchase.

Granted, this thing is absolutely the best for banging gears however. I have an early 2009 production 2010 SS model, with the older brass synchronizers, so… yeah, banging gears gradually stopped; although I will do a few small pulls and runs every few months. The factory Hurst shifters didn’t have as short of a shifter throw as the aftermarket billet version. I also kinda ended up liking my bone stock shifter as a result, and wanted to install the stock shifter handle adapter onto it… I’ll probably get an MGW shifter if I end up properly installing one in the next 2 years or so.
