REAR AXLE FLUID

I have a 2010 Camaro SS 6M, that I got from a private collection 2 years ago. The car only now has 1800 miles on it. (Had 300 original miles when I acquired it. I do not track it, mostly just car shows. What rear axle fluid can I use that is compatible with the oem seals on the 2010? I know that there was a tsb about changing the rear axle seals, due to compatibility issues with the new AC Delco stuff. I do not want to go that route, as the oem seals do not leak. Can I use another fluid such as 75-90 Redline, Amsoil etc., without seal damage or leakage down the road? TIA.

You talking about differential fluid for the differential housing or axle grease that goes into the axles? No is no such thing as axle fluid.

For the differential, I use Royal Purple cause it's much easier to get in store. Redline and Amsoil is also popular here on the forums.

FWIW, I can tell you that my 2015 SS's differential howled and growled with ANYTHING but GM diff lube. Even when using Amsoil!

I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 and did not add any additional friction modifier, as Amsoil already has it. I have had zero diff issues.
To be fair, I didn't have any issues with the GM gear oil either, so there's that.

GM oil and Amsoil Gear Oil both were fine, Now running a Tru Trac with Torco Fluid and its fine as well.

These factory GM Posi-traction LSD’s are so picky, that everyone’s car is different. Some people can literally get away using conventional 80w-90 (GL-5) gear oil, with limited slip additive/modifier added, and be just fine. Some people end up having to use aftermarket gear oil, and then experiment with the amount of extra LS modifier that they need (in order to stop chattering and noises when turning).

I used the newer AC Delco LS gear oil 75w-90 GL-5, with limited slip additive already mixed into it; and it was actually pretty decent. It still did in fact make a tiny bit of noise, but didn’t full on chatter. Once I started driving about 300+ ft or so, and maybe made a turn or two, the noise would be gone completely for the rest of the drive.

I tried going back to the original AC Delco/GM gear oil without LS additive pre-mixed, and I added the amount of separate LS modifier/additive that the owner’s manual specified. It actually didn’t work that gear, and it chattered a lot more than the other revised, newer OEM LS gear oil. I even saw in the owner’s manual that it could take up to 500(?) miles, before the gear oil and LS modifier additive “broke in” (or something along those lines).

I gave up and went to Mobil 1 and Royal Purple, which work fine for me, with about 2-3 extra fl oz of whatever limited slip modifier/additive was available. I typically use Lubegard, which is in the common 4 fl oz (small bottle) size. I’ve never used more than 4-5 fl oz before, especially if the gear oil is LS specific and has modifier already formulated. I’m afraid of excessive modifier/additive causing the LSD to act like an open differential.

I don't think I'd be too concerned. I still get two, nice black tire marks on a short burnout. (I never hold the brakes)
