I have a low end scanner, not sure it will run the tests shown on this video, how critical is it to reset the BCM.

Congrats! It sucks that we're reduced to this kind of a hack on our baby, but given GM's lack of concern and any other alternative than their hack*, we're stuck.
*by their hack I mean, you're going to pay X-thousands for the 'fix' and get the SAME flawed blend door that failed in the first place. Not exactly an optimal solution.
