Yes, any full-sized fiberglass packed mufflers (usually 14 x 9 x 4 inches, L x W x H) will quiet the exhaust down significantly. My Touring catback is basically the same thing as your Atak catback; it’s just the axleback exhaust section that’s sold differently/separately.

And yes, it’s also the non-resonated x-pipe mid pipes that come with the exhaust, that make it so loud and raspy. When I ran long tubes with off-road (catless) connection pipes, it was raspy for sure, but it was tolerable. I would imagine that the rasp would be pretty bad with a muffler/resonator delete or just straight pipes, but I guess it would be up to the cats/headers at that point, that would decide the overall volume, drone, and rasp (if any).

With 3” exhaust systems, there’s definitely no getting away from drone unless you’re loaded up with resonators/glasspacks and rear mufflers, like I was saying (but even more so). That’s why you see truck and SUV, van exhaust systems have huge resonators and mufflers throughout.

I would’ve kept the stock 2.5” catback exhaust had it come on my car when I bought it, cause long tubes or high flow cats would sound great with it. I recently bought a used NPP exhaust off of a ZL1, but I’m too indecisive as to whether I wanna get rid of my Ground Effects rear bumper or not… Most people do the NPP catback exhaust as an OEM+ upgrade; you simply just gotta get the GM Performance (quad exit) rear bumper diffuser/valence.

The GFX rear valance is one of the main reasons I have gone through as many exhausts as I have. It limits us in choice significantly, especially when it comes to tips, as so many companies weld their tips to the systems. I would absolutely love to have some awesome quad tips, but of course they wont fit with GFX, and the ones that do fit look lame. Currently I am running the Corsa Xtreme, no-tips version. I have some nice square MBRP tips that fit the GFX perfectly, but I'm going to wait to install them for when I do the rest of my new mods.

Trust me, even with that Magnaflow muffler my car is loud af when the pedal is on the floor.

We have a tunnel, ears are still ringing.

Just because it's seems quiet in the car, it's not quiet out there lol.

Maybe 2 resonator downstream after the X pipe. I know when I removed my stock resonators w/Borla S type axle back the decibel's increased 5 Decibel's at idle!

You have one of the most aggressive exhaust setups there is. Almost any other setup will help you quiet it down. As others have said, a Magnaflow resonator will help, but if you're not opposed to changing your catback, there's plenty of other great sounding yet milder setups you could have.

Here's what the Magnaflow X muffler sounds like, at the 3 minute mark the red 2015 SS 1LE.

Has headers, no cats, the Magnaflow muffler and the stock NPP exhaust.

What part # magnaflow did you use for your setup? I'm seeing different part numbers and I want to make sure I get the correct one.
