5th gen ZL1 and SS have the same park brake cables?

Here is why I ask.

2010 SS, put on 6th gen SS 1LE wheels and the part brake cables are hitting the wheels in the rear.

Had the same wheels on the ZL1 and it did not have this issue.

Anyone?

Sometimes on these 5th gens the brake cables are not all located/secured exactly the same way. Some guys have had issues with the brake cable rubbing on aftermarket wheels, or the tires. All you have to do is zip tie the cables back out of the way a bit. All good. The cables should be the same. Hope this helps ya out.

I did that, now there is a creaking noise back there but the cable is no longer hitting the wheel.

If this is true with 5th gens what is different about the ZL1 as it came with the same offset wheels? You never here about this issue on a ZL1.

Hmm, the creaking sound could just be the cable being tied back and moving around just a tad. As for the wheel offsets, looks like they would have been the same from 5 to 6th gen according to this info I found.

The 2010 has different wheels vs the 1LE and ZL1.

According to our Camaro5 wiki link the 2010 tires are a 20x8 245/45/20 and the rears are a 20x9 275/40/20.

Where as the 1LE used ZL1 rims and tires which both 5th and 6th gen uses the same size rims. A 20x10 front and 20x11 rear. 5th gen 1LE has 285/35/20 all 4 corners where the ZL1 has 285/35/20 fronts and 305/35/20 rears and the 6th gen 1LE and ZL1 have a 285/30/20 front and 305/30/20 rear.

Also a thing to note the 2010s have a different lower control arm because of a different sway bar configuration. (FE3 suspension).

Ahhhh the lower control arm, I noticed the swaybar difference when I lowered the car, they were hitting at stock height.

I wonder if the actual control arm is different or just the swaybar mounting point.

I don't the the lower arm making that big of a difference.

Ive researched a little and cant get a definite answer if they are the same other than the mounting point. Id assume there is some sort of difference other than the mounting point because, as you said, you dont hear of this problem on the ZL1. Ive only heard this problem on the older 2010s/2011s.

Few fun facts I did find, not that it'll help OP in the situation BUT the convertibles have the FE4 LCA but use the FE3 sway bar and mounting point. Also because of this the FE4 LCAs still have the FE3 mounting location.

I couldn't see any reason they would change them but I have been wrong before.
