Well, just go back to what Martinjlm said about a potential 4 door V8/MT coming from Chevrolet, are we about to see the Nascar counterpart introduced so they can actually run something at Daytona that's in production?

You forgot the most important, the "First Chevy of the '80s"! The first of MANY unreliable wrong wheel drive vehicles to sport the Bowtie emblem the Citation paved the way to sub mediocrity. Oh, the good ol' days.

X11 with a manual is a neat little combination.

Absolutely, no-one needs 18 companies making the same thing but that doesnt mean that there will only be 1/18 of the sales.
From what we are seeing here EV sales percentage will continue to increase - as soon as the infrastructure is realistic they are a cheaper, better car for a lot of people.

One things is for sure though, if yorue taking a global view sales figures definitely arent "in retreat" as that article claims

Full disclosure: In 1981 at the milestone age of 16 I took my driving test in a cool looking red and black X11 my Father "borrowed" from the Chevrolet dealership he worked for. Unfortunately like some of the women in my life the cars just didn't age well.

Good luck finding one still in running condition.

I rented an X11 once. Don't remember anything about it other than I thought it was cool that I got an X11.

Also once rented an AMC Eagle in Colorado. I was super excited to get one of those but never drove it anywhere but on paved roads. Imagine an SUV being new and exciting

Full disclosure...I wanted a Z/24.

EDIT...meant to say wanted

FWIW - I ended up with a Skyhawk T-Type. I think that was the better choice.

My first girlfriend had an ‘87 Z/24 hatchback in 1995.

I was 17. She was 22.

Good times

What engine did this vaunted X11 Citation have? I think I remember our 4 door Citation was like a 1984 model with a manual 4 speed and a TBI 2.5 Iron Duke (with no AC because my dad was "frugal"!).

If I remember correctly, the X11 started with a 2.8L V6. I can’t recall if it stuck around long enough to get the 3.1L V6 that eventually replaced it.

The Skyhawk T-Type that I bought instead of the X11 or Z24 had the Brazilian 1.8T OHC. I specify Brazilian because there were two 1.8T engines in GM portfolio at that time. I think the other was an Opel design sourced out of either Germany or UK. The Brazilian version was the better, more modern (at the time) engine.

Yeah the X11 had the 2.8 LE2 V6. Production of Citations ended in 1985, replaced by the Corsica annd Beretta in ‘87, and the 2.8 was stroked to the 3.1 in 1989.
