Just happened to me a few months ago, like 64 or 65k miles. What I ended up doing after repairing it was just unplugging the blend door motor at its max cold position and I'm just going to do that from now on during AC season which lasts 6 to 8 months around here, and then I'll plug it back in once it starts getting a bit nippy. I've been driving around for several weeks with it unplugged with no complaints from the computer or hvac or anything, just nice ice cold air without unnecessary and pointless wear cycles onto the new door. Still going to pick up another spare or two next time I make an order, just in case.

Where do you unplug it from again? And you said that you max out the blend door on the max cold position, on the climate temp control?

My 2013 RS blend door broke too, but the blend door on the 2011 SS donor car wasn't broken funnily enough. I put a new one in anyway when I was doing the conversion though and kept the old unbroken one for my spare parts bin. Found out that doing the blend door calibration is a must if you change or just disconnect the battery. Not hard to do if you have the right tool

Yeah, it’s definitely not just you. I’ve seen quite a few posts about 5th gens needing evap/blend door work, and the labor cost is always the killer since everything’s buried.

It was already broken on a friend's 2012 when he bought it in 2020, and it happened to my 2015 last week - at 69,800 miles.

My 2015 just broke at 69,800 miles.

My 2015 ended up going at 8 years and low miles. (2023 @ like 40K at the time.) I spent 2.5 days on my back with the seat out. I went with the aluminum door. Hope to NEVER have to worry again. You guys with it 'stuck' in one position are lucky. Mine was busted in two and the door was lying on the vent box floor.
