2013 LFX - Higher Compression?

Hello all, been looking around and trying to find any way to get some more power into my Camaros little V6. One of the first things I stumbled upon was to up the compression, however I'm not too sure how to do that besides custom pistons maybe, nor am I an expert with engines whatsoever. The other thing is I'm not too sure if heightening the compression would be the best idea.

I know someone's probably going to come at me with "Just do an Overkill supercharger", or anything related to forced induction. However I would like to keep it N/A, now I'm sure I won't get far keeping it N/A but I'd like to explore any possible way to squeeze more juice out of this motor without resorting to forced induction. With all that being said, I'm open to any sorta advice/info or potential hate for my lack of knowledge lol.

Stock is around 240 - 250 WHP;
Full intake and exhaust (with a tune) on 91 is worth an extra 40 or 50;
Cams are worth another 40 or 50 if you're willing to rev out to 7500, 7600 (believe the bottom end can handle this but you may want stiffer valve springs; I've revved out to 7300 on stock springs dozens of times with no explosions);
Looking at around 330 - 340 WHP, or maybe ~350 with E85 if you can get it.
A rear end swap (ex. 3.91 gears) will help make this fatty go faster too.

As far as cams go, where would I get some from? I've been hearing something about "Mace Engineering", seems interesting but it seems that those are for the Holdens, not exactly sure how different the motors from those to the Camaros are. And as far as intakes go, what about a ported intake? I've been trying to find one but the only thing I've come across is one for the LGX V6, curious if that'd be able to bolt to the LFX's system or if it's just too different.

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

It can be done. My LFX dynoed at 265 before I made my changes.

Engine mods:
K&N cold air intake
Air scoop (phastech)
Hi flow cats
Trifecta Tune
Ported throttle body
Ported intake manifold
Jacfab extendolator (under manifold)
Borla exhaust
Stainless exhaust without crossovers
Brisk racing plugs
Catch can

Suspension mods;
Five 8 coilovers
Upgraded sway bars
Tower brace

All these mods made it into a really good track car that still streets well. Could have been really expensive, but i did all the work myself. Running 310 hp with 160 top speed with 92 octane. I always get comments that it sounds like a v8

I haven't done the swap myself - by the time I began looking into it most of the parts were discontinued, and I haven't been diligent enough in looking for used parts - but I hope to do it one day.

The 3.91 would be ~15% "more aggressive" (3.91/3.23), plus all non-auto V6 rear ends were limited slip, so I suspect the difference is quite noticeable.

I got the Mace cams from Mace, just ordered off their website. Part # CAM669-A (https://www.maceengineering.com.au/e...ducts/CAM669-A). There is another place you can buy cams, RevHigh or something, but I believe they are the same cams.

JacFab may sell the ported LFX manifold; also sells a few other things: https://jacfab-net.3dcartstores.com/

Be careful on your cam choice, the Holden's are a V8 engine car, like the Chevrolet SS had in it.. Those are the Australian v8 Supercars they race down under.

And that's 310 wheel HP? Sounds very nice.. How much did all of it end up costing you in the end? Also that's a very beautiful car you have.

Yes indeed the Holden's are V8's. But apparently they've got some V6 models and Mace Engineering had made cams for the LFX from what I've seen/heard. Biggest thing I'm curious about is how well do they do?
