Hesitation/Surging after SC install
So i installed a supercharger on my camaro and been getting some hesitation/surging at lower RPM/speed. I figured it was the tune but tuner (from NC) is adament its not the tune all throughout the remote tuning process. (they did a speed density tune)
Recently went for a cruise and same thing happend hesitation/surging in lower RPM but this time I got a service stabilitrak message pop up as i was decelerating. came to a stop and went away after 1-2seconds fully stationary. Pulled codes and got 3 codes: U0401 - Invalid Data Received from ECM/PCM P0103 - Mass or Volume Air Flow A Circuit High P0107 Manifold Absolute Pressure/BARO Sensor Low P0103 is expected due to it being a speed density tune per tuner. Any ideas what is causing this hesitation/surging issue? Is it tune related? or is it hardware related, possibly a bad MAP sensor (tried digging around based on the codes i got an my symptoms on camaro5 and google in general). Tuner hasnt been helpful with diagnosing besides saying i need to troubleshoot But unsure what is going on and its quite irritating, just want to get the car proper so I can enjoy it this season.

It's lean in those cells, it's a tune issue.
Why would this be a speed density tune? No reason for it.

They changed to speed density half way through tuning as car was constantly breaking up and couldnt get above 4000RPM. After they swapped, i could get through whole RPM range but been getting hesitation/surging in low RPM since, and I brought it up in every single data log I sent. Might be time for a new tuner if that is the case then.

If you have HP Tuners and a wideband give Justin White or Janetty a call and get a remote street tune.

MAF is in place for part throttle tuning, this is why you keep it. Not to mention differences in on the fly tuning for different DA's.

Yeah I am thinking I will do that and get a new tune from one of them. I just thought what if there is a HW issue I am missing (bad sensor, leak etc), but I genuinely dont think there is at all with the history of how things have gone.

I would investigate those codes for sure. DO you have a scan tool?

Will def check with them and see, just have to decide which of them to go with and pay them for a tune.

I'm not personally saying one is better than the other, but this is a continuous discussion on HPTuners GM forums, with good tuners on both sides. But most agree that when you get into really big cams, SD is more likely to get better results. |

Personally I would approach this as a possible electrical issue with focus on powers and grounds.
Based on the codes you have I would double check ground circuits.

If you didn't replace the MAP with a "red" map which I think is a 2 or 3 bar MAP that is why you have a low map code. What blower did you put on and how much power did it make?

Blower on the car is a Magnuson Heartbeat TVS2300 with the rotofab heartbeat Cold air intake system and FIC 1000cc injectors, and a MSD BAP. Per tuner, should put me at around 700rwhp but have yet to dyno it yet. The MAP on the car is the one it came with, the 'red' MAP sensor (12592525), so wasnt a need to change it out. I know there is a 'blue' (55567257) superceded version of the MAP sensor unsure if that will make a difference or not but I was tempted to throw one on to see if it is in fact the MAP thats the problem.
