Billet Aluminum Battery Terminal cover

Curious for those who have installed this cover... how do you like it? I just ordered one off of Amazon for about $40 with free shipping compared to the major vendors that sell them for much more plus shipping on this site or elsewhere etc...

The reason I replaced mine was that the factory plastic cap with the strap broke. Upon looking for a new factory replacement.. I kept seeing these red plastic cover/cap go for upwards of $60-$90 on line. WTF!

Anyhow I installed it but then realized that this cover needs to be removed every time I want to hook my Camaro to the battery tender in the garage when not in use. The cover comes with some 3M double sided tape... but what for? If I need to remove it then it just makes it harder. I chose not to apply the 3m double sided tape. It's too bad it doesn't come with a cap that can screw on and off.

Thoughts??

I hook my battery charger in the rear plug type as easy fix straight off battery! The charger came with alligator clips or hard wire leads with a plug which works beautifully!

Are you referring to the rear trunk battery hook up?

Correct, I just plug into the lead which is permanently screwed to battery terminals! Then I open rear trunk , plug in and all sorted !

The thing for me is I bring my Camaro into the garage forward facing in which the battery tender is hooked up in front. I do not have any electrical outlets on my side walls in the garage which is a problem. I plan on having them installed in the future by an electrician but for now this will do. As for backing in the Camaro... that is another option... but it is a hassle in having to remove the rear trunk floor cover over the battery to hook up and reinstall everything when on the go. That is a major PITA if you ask me. Post pics of your set up if you don't mind.

Mine is hooked to rear battery with the ends that bolt to battery not the clips, I then snaked it up from under the floor and all i have to do is pop the trunk and plug it in, I gently set the trunk down and I am done. It is not in the way of anything and barely noticable when you open the trunk as it is against the back wall.

Please post pics guys so I have a better understanding of what I am looking at. My terminal hook up line is rather short when it connects to the extension for the battery tender.. Pics of what I am currently doing below....

You can either buy outdoor rated velcro or glue some rare earth magnets to the cover-easy on easy off.

I'll post pics of my set up once I am back from vacation. Just wanted to show you the wires I use instead of the clips. Takes me about 10 seconds to hook up after opening car door.

I found a set up I don’t remember where at but it comes through the trunk floor with a grommet and goes to the battery, there is a cap on the part that sticks out so I don’t even have to open the trunk.
