Service Airbag

So, today, while driving alone, "Service Airbag" popped up on my DIC. I finished my drive home. My wife got in the car, in the passenger seat, and the light went off and stayed off until she got out of the car. The airbag light came back on and "Service Airbag" popped up on my DIC again. I'm thinking it's probably the passenger presence sensor. Does anybody have any input on this?

Check the connector in that seat, sometime they will wiggle lose, unplug it, and plug it back in. That should work, or disconnect your negative battery terminal for about 30 minutes, then reconnect it, that should reset the system. Try that first.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Before I read them, though, I watched several YouTube videos on the subject and the concensus was that the occupancy sensor is prone to breakage at the retaining clips. Since this was a replacement seat, and I still have my original ones, I took the sensor out of the old seat and put it in the new one. The light went out and the notification on the DIC are gone!

Upon examining the sensor, I can't find a break in the wire where the various videos showed the common break area. For all I know, it may not be bad at all. I may have fixed by doing what you said, wiggling connections. I also removed the airbag fuse for about an hour, while I was removing the seat, which was another suggestion on one of the videos.

I wish I had more details on what the actual problem and the actual fix was, so I could, possibly, help someone else with a similar problem, but I just don't know what the cause was.

What you could do with the bad connector is due a continuity test at both ends to see if any of the wires might be broken inside the connector, if they are good, then it as just loose...
