PCV "Valve" Drilling
I'm certainly not a mechanic (But I almost feel like one after changing that 3rd brake light lol) but I don't mind trying the easier stuff. Been reading up about drilling out the PCV fitting. In my reading I came across a post that the 2013 LFX engine already has this update. Anyone know if this is true? I wouldn't mind pulling it out and having a look but I ran across a couple horror stories about breaking it in the valve cover and I certainly don't want to risk this if I don't have to. I was thinking about just looking at it in the valve cover and see if a 7/64th drill bit fits into the top hole. Does that make sense? Thanks!

the real question is will the later model PCV valve work in an earlier engine.maybe take the old one out and go to a parts store to compare?

Yes, they had to change the design of the PVC valve, so when you buy a new one today it will have bigger holes in it, so the engine can breathe, thanks This, It says that the 2014-15 valves have been updated, so that means your 2013 needs to be replaced with the "newer" version, or drill yours out, and keep it clean with carb cleaner every oil change. It should just pull out of the cover grommet..

Well the 2012 is clear cut. The 2014 is clear cut. 2013 can go either way. If I need to do it, I would try, but I'm not sure it's necessary. I could have the 2012 or 2014 style. It just makes sense to me if a 7/64 drill bit fits the top I would have the newer style. If you do a search for this part on a 2013 you won't find it or a replacement listed. There's always ebay... which can be a little shaky lol This is a high millage car so my gut tell me this one isn't going to just pop out. If it breaks in the valve cover it's a whole different situation. Cranking on engines isn't my thing.

If it's a high mileage car and the original and narrow PVC valve you will see a ton of buildup inside that valve cover and that leads to other problems. Just pull it and if it breaks get a new one. When I did mine it pulled out while still connected to the hose iirc.
I would seriously think about pulling that valve cover tho. Might be a horror show in there.
