Simple Tune Recommendation for a 2021 LT1 and Long Tubes
Looking for a recommendation for a simple and cost effective Tune solution on a 2021 LT1 that will have Long Tubes and a MBRP Exhaust installed. I know Phastec used to offer a canned Tune, but that was long ago. Remote Tuning usually requires a MPVI3, and 4 or more Credits - that alone is $400 + $50/Credit. And then a TCM Unlock?. That plus the Tune Cost.
Location is SE MI, so local options may be Livernois, Pauls, Alternative Auto, Detroit Tuned, etc? Remote Tuners such as GPI and Jannetty Racing? What makes the best sense, as I am sure there are ton's of us that have installed LT's and needed a Tune to take advantage of the improved performance and eliminate the Code that will get set. |

I've used trifecta tune on my tracked camaro, chevy colrado and a Chevy cruze. Highly recommend them. They could probably dial you in pretty easy.

So a simple tune starting at $550 would be quite a deal if nothing else is necessary. GPI and Jannetty are prob 2x that, and that seems overkill for simple Mod like LT's, Exhaust, and a CAI. I would think the remote tuners all have "canned" tunes in the bag for these simple mods as there are so many of us who have made them. And Data Logging may not even be necessary - but I don't know, as Tuning is not something most of us have any idea how to do on our own. I know on my Whipple Blown, Big Cam, and modded 2SS the REMOTE Tuning process was very involved, but that is expected when you make those kind of Mods. |

You should look at GPI. They are solid. And the do remote and onsite tunes. Highly regarded. Not the cheapest solution, but solid.

I had them tune for Hi flow cats, borla exhaust, cold air, bigger ported throttle body and intake. Had my tune within a week, ran it and did a days log. They tweaked it a little and sent another new tune. Pretty easy on the user's side. They're quick to respond with questions and little modifications. Ran it on track days and it does really well. |

I've only used their cable for their tune. Not familiar with the other ones and never used any of the others, so I'm not sure if you can use their cable for other programs. Their tune goes into the ecm, so you don't need anything hanging out on the obd port.
For doing a data log, I just drive around and ran their program on my laptop while plugged in. When done, the laptop and cord aren't needed in the car anymore. |
