Flip ups?

I've been looking around and haven't found anything. So I figured I'd ask here. I was considering trying to put flip up headlights on my Camaro, not unlike those on the Firebird. Which brings me to my first question, can I grab the lights off a 'bird and just throw them on. I'd assume this wouldn't work, but I figured I'd ask anyways. Otherwise, has anyone ever seen a kit or the likes to do something like this? I seem to recall flip up head lights being illegal now on new cars, but I don't know if this would prohibit me from doing it. Thoughts?

Thanks
Jeff

Well it seems theres good reason. I did a very rough mock up, and it came out looking, less than pleasing...

Some companies have been looking at concealed headlights that come from the center with inspiration drawn from the first generation RS package. Headlights that flip up are not going to look good on this car.

Yeah I'd have to agree with you there. And are you talking about the fog lights down near the grill?

Can't imagine why you'd want to do this... Are you talking about a flip-up COVER for your headlight cavity, or an actual pivoting assembly, like the Bird? Just be careful they don't end up looking like this

I was thinking more like the bird, as you can see, they're basically the Camaro lights in the rotating housing.

The actual compartments look very similar as well.

I can't be sure, but it looks like the 'bird lights would fit it the black trim piece is removed. Although there might have to be some alteration of the bottom of the compartment to get them close properly. I can't be sure without having the measurements of the 'bird lights.

I see where you're going with it... Either way you're looking at alot of fabrication... I wonder if changing the whole front clip might be easier. You'd still have to run the wires, but would probably be a cleaner finish...

I think it sounds like a bad idea, the flip up lights are over-rated anyways

Plus, if the motor goes out, you are out of a headlight.

That kinda makes me want to call it a "Scholarly Firebird", looks like it's wearing glasses.

Not if, but when. Ask me how I know.
