Ask and you shall receive... We were on our way back from SEMA last night, stopped in Baker for some "alien jerky" and happened to see this spoilerless 2010 sitting next door.

Found the WAYYYY cool owners who let us take pop our spoiler on for some pics (we just took the GTO to SEMA and that is where we picked up our plug, this spoiler, from our guy from AZ, McNord).

Their car is REALLY nice and had a lot of other cool parts on it as it is the Defender Worx car...

Anyways, thanks again to them you have some pics to keep you held over until we can bolt it to our test car. Without further adieu...

The fit is actually really good (can't tell that from the pics at all) and this piece is ready to mold.

I had thoughts of extending it to overhang the trunk but in person it looks SOOOO good as is and I'm afraid due to it's size making it wider would be too much but we'll see...

Thoughts so far?

My thoughts? It looks AWESOME! I have to see it in a better light, though. I think I might've found my spoiler. It's actually better that it doesn't extend onto the quarter panels - you were right all along!

However, since you're still capable of tweaking it, might I make one small suggestion? Round out the corners by just the tiniest margin. The problem is, the spoiler's height now gives it more of a handcap to succumb to other design flaws and the only one there is that the corners sharp angles make it look too... polygonal. No need to detract from the spoiler's purposeful look at all, just a very conservative rounding of the corners. Afterall, first-gen spoiler's corners, although pronounced, were slightly rounded.

Here's a picture to show what I'm talking about:

AFTER:

Even if it's too late, it's still a magnificent looking spoiler and I am anxious as hell to see it fully mounted and in better light!

I think that does look great... but i would kinda like to see what it would look like if it was about 2-3 inches wider on each side, so it was flush with the sides of the car.

I like the Dovetail spoiler, but I dont like how it extends down the side of the car (like Gen2-4 spoilers do)... So I would still kinda like to see this one extended full width, even if just a photoshop.

I understand where everyone is coming from on their different ideas but it is kind of one of those "too many cooks in the kitchen" things.

When people just do what they think looks good, we get a 2010 Camaro, when they listen to too many focus groups we get a Scion, lol!

Seriously though, corners are the way they are on purpose. That is the 2010 styling part of it. Otherwise it would just be copying the old first gen design, not making it modern.

Widening is still probably off the table IMO...

Finally, I hope to have lit mounted pics this week. I saw an opportunity to get something out there early for you guys so I grabbed it, sorry it was at night, lol!

Also, a large company has REALLY taken to the design and may want exclusive rights to it, I'll keep you updated...

You make a good point! You won't be hearing anymore lip from me, I can't wait to see it again. How long do you estimate before it'll go on sale if everything goes smoothly?

This happens every time any vendor posts "preview" pics; everybody has their own ideas of what they would like to see done to it. I think the ends are fine. My only "dislike" is the whole thing is too thick. Looking at it from the side it looks too thick and heavy. The front is fine, but I'd like to see the back curved inward so the line flows in a backward arch from the trunk up and through to the top of the spoiler. And I'd like the spoiler to be about 60% as thick as it is; if it measures 2 inches thick across the top, reduce that about 3/4 of an inch for example. Other than the thickness and the shape of the back, It looks like you have the right height and the ends look fine to me otherwise.

It definitely looks thick by itself but when you're stepping back and looking at the whole car it matches it perfectly.

Again, we're just trying to take the idea of the first gen spoiler and make a version that compliments the more angular lines of the fifth gen.

To me, lots of the spoilers out there look great BUT look like they were designed more for the concept car than the production car, if that makes sense.

Anyways, off to make phone calls to get the first production piece on a car for you guys already, lol! Thanks for all the patience, kind words AND constructive criticisms .

Well, assuming better light and being bolted on don't make it look less awesome, I've finally found my spoiler. !

Can't wait for production to start.
