Failure or preventive maintenance?
I ask because these water pumps tend to be very well built. You rarely hear of them failing.

I don't know about the California Duster. A detailer told me once not to use them. They pick up the dirt well, but as you use it you're just rubbing any grime they've picked up all of the finish. I used to use them all the time but stopped.

Yes and no in my experience.
I use the California duster with a little Pledge sprayed onto it. Grabs the dust pretty good that way. I also wash the duster out routinely otherwise I think it will turn into sandpaper as it loads and holds the dust. Keep in mind I'm talking actual dust as it's parked inside. Would work well for a quick touch up at shows or cars and coffee too. If you park outside I wouldn't use it as you're likely doing damage with dust, dirt, bug poop and God knows what else. Tried it once on my wife's K4 parked outside and it was pointless so now I wash it every week.

It leaked after a drive and was starting to screech on startup. (the weep hole is hidden by the pulley) Word of advice - consider replacing the heater core hose assembly set and all of the clamps as these were difficult to disconnect on the pump side. I say this because I still have a little coolant seepage on those 2 ports. I received the hose set today but still waiting for the 4 clamps (3 different part numbers with one of them being discontinued but still in stock at some dealers) I will tackle that job when I replace all of the AC system components (except the evaporator, which I will need to flush)

Went with some friends to TKM Performance in Denton, NC for a dyno day with free pulls to see what hp we make. The Camaro made 381 hp to the wheels with longtubes, 3" Corsa catback, Cold Air Inductions intake, and no tune. Pretty happy with how it did.
