Looking For Someone in The Middle TN Area to do "Cut Fix" for Blend Door
The HVAC blend door has finally broken on my 2015 2LS. I can hear the actuator moving when I adjust the temperature, but it makes no difference in the air temperature. The air is also warmer on the driver's side than on the passenger side, which seems to be a typical sympton of the door breaking near the actuator.
I don't want to spend the money to have the dash removed and am looking for someone who has done the job before. I'm in the Murfreesboro area but would be willing to take it to Nashville if necessary. Does anyone have any recommendations? TIA P.S. If this post belongs in another sub-forum, or if someone knows of a sub-forum where it might get more visibility, any help would be appreciated. Last edited by RedRockMan; 12-02-2025 at 02:57 AM. Man, I buried my head in the sand over this issue too until mine broke. Even uttered the statement I'd pay to get it fixed. I didn't. I spent three days on my back with the seat out getting this done. I purposely took my time. Conceptually easy, but tediously fookin hard!
Can't imagine too many dudes want to take this on. But good luck. Oh, btw, get the aluminum door. Never look back.

Yeah, what makes this worse it that I live in Tennessee and this polar vortex thing may last all the way through January according to some predictions. I'm fairly handy and would take on the project myself if I had a garage and wasn't in the middle of getting my mom moved into an assisted living facility.
I just went through the transmission shudder issue six weeks ago, and a fluid flush fixed that (for now anyway), but the timing on the blend door failure couldn't have happened at a worse time. Fortunately I still have a '99 Mercury Mountaineer (which has never had a major/expensive failure) that will hopefully get me through this. |

Some Luck with Blend Door "Cut Fix" - TN
I called a (very) good independent mechanic here in Murfreesboro, TN (near Nashville) who changed my rotors/pads a few months ago, and he's willing to give it a go. It's going to be a couple of weeks before I have the time to get it to him because of family issues, but if it all works out I'll reply again and will pass his info along to anyone who requests it.
Thanks to all of the people who have posted about this issue over the years, and to those who made the YouTube videos showing how to do it. |
